Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing agreement with the idea that music brings people together. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. While you mention social media and personal enjoyment, the arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. The response is also slightly under the 250-word minimum, which impacts the overall development of the task. To improve, you should focus on expanding your points with more detailed explanations and ensuring that each paragraph contributes a distinct, well-supported argument rather than repeating the same general ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'also' and 'however' to start sentences. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between ideas feels disjointed. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smooth, coherent argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'good way', 'various', and 'love'. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'most masses' and 'leveling up'. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary and collocations related to the topic of culture and social interaction, and avoid informal phrasing that is not suitable for an IELTS Academic task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'listening different songs are'), incorrect verb forms ('will be discuss'), and missing articles. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by errors that occasionally impede clarity. You need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and correct tense usage, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for basic punctuation and capitalization is also essential.
