Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas regarding music as a universal language and a bridge between generations are relevant and supported by examples like K-pop and family bonding. However, the development is somewhat limited; the arguments could be extended further to reach a higher band. For instance, the discussion on 'generation gap' is a bit brief. The introduction is slightly inaccurate in its summary of the prompt, as it mentions 'people of same age' instead of 'different ages,' which is a minor oversight. Overall, the response is well-focused and relevant.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost,' 'Secondly,' and 'Consequently' are used to guide the reader. However, there are some minor issues with mechanical cohesion, such as the lowercase 'in' at the start of the final sentence in the introduction and some slightly awkward phrasing in the conclusion. The flow of ideas is generally smooth, though the transition between sentences could be more sophisticated to achieve a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'universal language,' 'generation gap,' and 'isolation.' However, there are several word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'music is a good idea for gathering people' (should be 'way' or 'method') and 'sample order older musical tracks' (which is unclear). The range is sufficient for the task, but more precise and varied vocabulary would be needed for a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that detract from the quality of the writing. Examples include 'the music has increasingly become popular' (unnecessary article), 'Public listen to music' (should be 'The public' or 'People'), 'they can unites' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'beneficial to brings' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and capitalization. These errors do not impede communication, but they are persistent throughout the text.
