Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many Individuals believe that music is beneficial to connect people from different culture and generation together.
First and foremost, I strongly agree with this opinion because music can overcome language barriers and create shared experiences towards people of different generations. Music is a universal language, people enjoy listening to various type of music of different culture even when they do not speak the same language, it is not necessary that people need to understand lyrics of a song to enjoy its rytham. Many big celebrities organize a "concert", "music festival" and "culture events" that bring people together form different culture and age groups. Moreover, people also came to attend this type of events from various nations for instance; India, Canada, Japan, and western country and enjoy artist like Arijit Singh, BTS despite having different culture or background, traditional music also allows to people learn about different culture and religion.
On the other hand, Music connects younger and older generation because songs can be shared within families and friends. Although, young generation and older adults often having different taste they can still share and discuss music with parents, parents also may introduce their favorite old song to their children, while younger generation can introduce modern music. Additionally, at wedding or any family celebration, people from different age groups often dance together. However, some people having different taste in music.
Overall, music is an excellent way to unite people from different cultures and age groups. It can overcome language differences, increase cultural understanding and create enjoyable and memorable experiences.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt clearly, maintaining a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding music as a universal language and a tool for intergenerational bonding are relevant and supported by examples such as concerts and family celebrations. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the mention of specific artists like Arijit Singh and BTS is a good attempt at providing evidence, but the explanation of how this specifically bridges cultural gaps could be more analytical. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on the 'why' and 'how' of your arguments rather than just listing examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First and foremost,' 'Moreover,' and 'On the other hand,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'it is not necessary that people need to understand lyrics.' Additionally, the use of punctuation, particularly the semicolon after 'for instance' and the comma usage in lists, is inconsistent, which slightly impacts the overall fluency of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'universal language,' 'language barriers,' and 'intergenerational.' However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'various type of music' (should be 'types'), 'bring people together form different culture' (should be 'from'), and 'people also came to attend this type of events' (should be 'attend these types of events'). These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the precision and sophistication of your writing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic collocations would improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('some people having different taste') and pluralization ('different culture and generation'). Punctuation is also a recurring issue, notably the misuse of semicolons and commas. While these errors rarely impede the overall meaning, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring subject-verb consistency will significantly enhance your writing.
