Student answer (Band 5.0)

Most of the individuals ask that music is a way through which people from several cultures and times can sit together.I will give my opinion and discuss this view in upcoming paragraphs.

First of all, people listen music to fell better and to reduce their stress. It can also be use to spend your free time. While the argument of people is not correct that music can bring folks close to each other from other cultures and ages.I will disagree with this point of view.Because music is only for joy and relaxation not for relation.

As we know that there is many nations in world. All of them have different cultures and languages. Our culture and language is different from others .We cannot understand the music of their culture and same they cannot understand our's.So we cannot relate to each other and by this the consumption of people about music proves wrong.

On other hand, our elders are not same as like us. Their mind is different from us. They didn't like the music of today's world. Because the like to listen old traditional songs. They didn't like songs with beat and remix as they can not understand it.This also contradicts the argument of people who said that music can bring people together from different ages.

To sum up, music is only for entertainment and relaxation .It cannot bring the citizens together from other culture and times. This is because people have different taste in music according to their tradition and their age.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position of disagreement. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. The arguments provided—that music is only for relaxation and that language barriers or generational gaps prevent connection—are somewhat simplistic and lack depth. While the task is addressed, the reasoning is not fully extended or supported with concrete examples, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The response stays on topic, but the analysis of how music might bridge cultures is dismissed rather than explored, leading to a narrow perspective.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the use of 'Because' at the start of a sentence is grammatically incorrect and disrupts the flow. Transitions between ideas are basic, such as 'First of all' and 'On other hand'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the logical progression between sentences is occasionally hindered by the repetitive nature of the arguments. Paragraphing is present but the internal cohesion within those paragraphs needs significant improvement to achieve a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'music', 'people', 'culture', and 'different'. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'consumption of people' instead of 'perception' or 'argument', and 'folks' which is too informal for an academic essay. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. To improve, you should focus on using more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repeating the same words throughout the text. The current range is just enough to convey the basic meaning but lacks the flexibility required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('there is many nations'), incorrect verb forms ('listen music to fell better'), and sentence fragments ('Because music is only for joy...'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often faulty. The majority of the sentences contain errors, which indicates a need for a stronger grasp of basic sentence structure, articles, and verb tenses before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
