Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, which severely limits the development of ideas. While the prompt asks for an opinion on whether music brings people together, the response fails to provide a clear, sustained argument. The ideas presented—such as music helping people feel calm—are underdeveloped and do not directly address the core of the prompt regarding cultural and generational unity. Because the essay is incomplete and lacks sufficient supporting evidence or a coherent conclusion, it fails to meet the basic requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a logical structure. While there is an attempt to use transition words like 'In the commence with' and 'Secondly', these are used incorrectly or lead into fragmented thoughts. The paragraphing is ineffective, and the second paragraph is cut off mid-sentence, which disrupts the flow of information. There is no clear progression of ideas, and the lack of cohesive devices makes the text difficult to follow. The overall arrangement is disjointed, and the referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to track the writer's argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive, relying on simple terms like 'good', 'happy', and 'types'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'best route of bringing' instead of 'best way to bring' and 'real basis song', which is unclear. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, and the errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding of the intended meaning. To improve, the student needs to expand their range of topic-specific vocabulary and focus on using words in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often distort meaning. Examples include 'most of the people loves to listen music', 'Songs are having types', and 'Song does people calm'. There is a lack of control over basic sentence structures, including subject-verb agreement, article usage, and tense consistency. The attempt at complex structures is limited and usually results in ungrammatical phrasing. Punctuation is also inconsistent, and the overall lack of accuracy makes the text difficult to read. A focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors is essential.
