Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people think that music a great way to unite the people of different ages and cultures together.
I strongly agree that, music is the best way to connect people from different cultures together.
It is obvious that we do not understand the languages of other regions and countries, moreover it is difficult to learn as well. But if we look, music can help us to solve our problem. Music and songs connects people to the history of a specific region. For example, if someone wants to know about the Mughal era, he will be interested in old music as well. But, it depends upon the taste. Melodies and rhythms touch the heart directly, no matter where we live. Artists now a days mix tones and sounds from different regions honoring the multiple roots at once.
Especially when an artist from somewhere performs on an international stage, he grabs the attention of audience from all over the world, people belonging from different ethnicities. This is how people tries to connect with each other. Not only people enjoy the music but it also develops a sense of true respect for other cultures as well. Listeners breaks down the cultural barriers and try to share the common emotions with each other. They intrigue to explore other cultures and histories. Moreover people learn about other new traditions as well.
I personally believe that folklore and old historical music should be promoted because it unites the people from all over the world, breaking down the barrier of different race, ethnicity and cultures.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favor of music as a unifying force. The ideas are relevant, such as the role of music in understanding history and the impact of international performances. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the mention of the 'Mughal era' is a specific example but is not fully linked to the broader argument about cultural unity. The essay would benefit from more detailed explanations of how music specifically bridges the age gap, which is mentioned in the prompt but largely ignored in the body paragraphs. The conclusion restates the position but does not synthesize the arguments effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'But if we look' or 'This is how people tries to connect'. Referencing is generally clear, but the transition between ideas could be smoother. The paragraphing is sufficient, though the body paragraphs are somewhat short, which limits the depth of the logical flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. While the student uses some relevant terms like 'ethnicities', 'cultural barriers', and 'melodies', there is a reliance on simpler, repetitive language. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'people belonging from different ethnicities' (should be 'belonging to') and 'they intrigue to explore' (should be 'they are intrigued to explore'). There are no major spelling errors, but the lack of sophisticated collocations and idiomatic expressions keeps the score in the mid-range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('people tries', 'Listeners breaks') and prepositional errors ('belonging from'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward comma placements, such as 'I strongly agree that, music is...'. The range of structures is limited, and the errors occur with enough frequency to prevent the essay from reaching the 7.0 band, which requires frequent error-free sentences.
