Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believe that music is a good way to bring people of different cultures and ages together. I agree with this opinion because music is enjoyed by people all over the world and people create a common feeling.
Firstly, music can help people from different cultures understand other person. In every country traditional music, but people from other countries also enjoy it. For example, Indian music, Korean music and Western music are popular in many parts of the world. When people listen to different types of music, many people can learn about other cultures and traditions.
Secondly, Young people and older people have different interests, but they can enjoy music at concerts, festivals and family events. For example, at a wedding, grandparents, parents and children listen to the same songs and dance together. Music creates a happiness environment.
I believe that music cannot solve every difference between alone people. respect are also important. People need to accept different opinions and cultures make good relationships.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 165 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you have addressed the prompt and provided a clear position, the arguments are underdeveloped. For instance, the point about music at weddings is a good start, but it lacks the depth and specific analysis required for a higher band. To improve, you must expand your supporting points with more detailed explanations and examples to ensure the response is fully developed and meets the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which is a positive feature. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' to signal the progression of your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the concluding paragraph is abrupt and lacks a clear link to the previous arguments. To improve, try to use a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by well-connected supporting ideas that lead naturally to a conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You use simple terms like 'good way', 'popular', and 'happiness environment'. There is a lack of less common or more precise vocabulary that would demonstrate a higher level of proficiency. For example, 'happiness environment' is not a natural collocation. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to culture and social cohesion, and practice using more sophisticated adjectives and adverbs to express your ideas with greater precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'understand other person' (should be 'understand other people') and 'cultures make good relationships' (which lacks a proper connecting structure). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the overall control of complex grammar is limited. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and expanding your range of complex sentence structures while ensuring they remain error-free.
