Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that music is a source of building strong connection among people of diverse cultures and ages. They believe music of different styles are loved by all despite of their varied cultures. It emotionally connects people with the same taste in music.
I strongly agree with this view that it acts as a potential link between people of different age groups .
This is due to the reason that music has soothing effect on soul despite of the age difference. It boosts the spirit of soul. People feel relaxed after listening melodic tones. The artists all over the world perform in different countries even with the different cultural values. It not only promotes music but helps in socializing . A clear example of this is the concert of Pakistani artists in Europe bring both Europeans and Pakistani together although they have different cultural believes.
Another significant factor is that there is no language barrier in music. Music is equally liked by all over the world regardless of geographical barrier. For instance, concerts of the rap music are held all over Pakistan and music lover come to attend it no matter where they belong, in this way it brings the people from the different cities together; they will socialize and get to know each other, even some people make new friends at such places.
To conclude , I would say that music has significant role in making the world "global world" along with limiting cultural barriers.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the response is slightly under the 250-word minimum, which impacts the development of ideas. While the arguments regarding language barriers and social connection are relevant, they are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. The examples provided, such as the concert of Pakistani artists, are helpful but could be expanded to better illustrate the 'age' aspect of the prompt, which is currently under-addressed. To improve, ensure all parts of the prompt are explored with equal weight and meet the minimum word count to allow for full development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'This is due to the reason that' and 'Another significant factor', but these are sometimes used mechanically or with slight grammatical awkwardness. The progression of ideas is generally clear, though the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Referencing is mostly clear, but the overall flow would benefit from a wider variety of linking words and more sophisticated paragraph transitions to move beyond a basic structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There are some noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'cultural believes' (should be 'cultural beliefs') and 'global world' (which is redundant). The student relies on basic vocabulary like 'good way' and 'different'. To reach a higher band, the student should incorporate more precise, academic vocabulary and collocations, such as 'transcending cultural boundaries' instead of 'limiting cultural barriers'. Spelling is generally accurate, but the range of vocabulary remains limited to common, everyday language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'music of different styles are loved' (subject-verb agreement) and 'despite of' (incorrect preposition usage). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are issues with spacing around punctuation marks. While the student attempts complex sentences, they are often prone to errors. Increasing the variety of error-free complex structures and focusing on accurate prepositional usage will help improve the score in this criterion.
