Student answer (Band 6.5)
Many people think that an effective way of bringing people together from different traditions and ages is music. I completely agree with this view, because music is enjoyed by everyone regardless of their ages and it increases cultural appreciation.
One of the significant reasons of music's ability to bring people together is the widespread enjoyment experienced by different age groups. Everyone listens to music, whether it from their own culture or from another. As a result, a large number of people learn about new cultures and get influenced to know more about it, bringing everyone together. For example, many elderly people from different cultures enjoy listening to K-pop these days because of the inclusivity it offers and thus it increases more audience beyond borders, influencing cultural bonding.
Additionally, music from different cultures and traditions influences cultural appreciation. The internet has made access to a wide range of music from other entertainment industries very convenient and so anybody can listen to the viral tracks, learn about the singer or producer and finally get interested in their culture. As a result, people start appreciating their culture as well. In the last decade, for instance, k-pop industry has significantly attracted a huge number of global attention with the help of global bands like BTS and Blackpink. Moreover, not only they appreciate the music but also they show interest in their attire, food and history. Consequently, the number of tourists visiting South Korea increased exponentially. Hence, the music has brought these people closer to a completely new culture they did not even know about even ten years ago.
In conclusion, I firmly agree that music has the potential to bring different cultures and people of ages much closer and it is evident because it highly appreciates others traditions and is enjoyed by every age group.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position of agreement. The ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as the mention of K-pop and its impact on cultural tourism. However, the development is somewhat repetitive; the argument that music leads to cultural appreciation is stated in both body paragraphs without significant new depth. To reach a higher band, you should ensure each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-developed point rather than restating the same core concept. The conclusion effectively summarizes the position, though it could be more concise.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'As a result', 'Additionally', and 'Consequently' are used to link ideas effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct arguments. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be improved by varying the structure of cohesive links. For example, the repetition of 'As a result' in the first two paragraphs makes the progression feel a bit predictable. Overall, the information is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision. Phrases like 'cultural appreciation', 'inclusivity', and 'increased exponentially' are used effectively. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'get influenced to know more about it' (which is slightly awkward) and 'attracted a huge number of global attention' (should be 'attracted a huge amount of global attention'). While you attempt to use less common items, the vocabulary is generally functional rather than sophisticated. Expanding your range of collocations would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are recurring grammatical errors, such as 'whether it from their own culture' (missing verb 'is') and 'not only they appreciate the music but also they show interest' (incorrect inversion after 'not only'). Punctuation is generally accurate, but some phrasing is slightly unnatural. You have good control over basic structures, but more consistent accuracy in complex sentence construction is needed to reach the 7.0+ range. Focus on subject-verb agreement and correct word order in inverted structures.
