Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believe that music brings people of different cultures and ages together, while others do not agree with this opinion.
Generally, music has no boundaries, it has been a source of entertainment since ages. Every society has their own cultural events, and the music is a key element of each gathering. Music is categorized in multiple kinds, you can enjoy it in every situation.
It has been associated with the love and praising someone's beauty. However music these days has changed a lot. In the past , classical music was very famous and liked genre. It was smooth and calm, with less use of instruments, and more focused on the vocals of the singers. Although music is revolutionized in each era, it still influence our daily moments.
The opinion that music is effective in bringing the different cultures together is correct.
For instance, the coke studio pakistan is culturally, belongs to the subcontinent. Its art and music compositions are local, but it very popular in west as well. People wait for its new episodes every year. This proves the argument that music connects people from different origins, it does not matte whether they understand it or not. Music is all about feeling it, and I also believe that music is the purest form of art. These days, rape is a form of music that is only about enjoying. Means of listening music has been changed, we can listen music from any musician on phones. Artificial intelligence is also effecting the music industry, as there are many fake audios of veteran singers, singing latest songs. There should be some regulations to protect the rights of artists.
In conclusion, music is useful to make connections with others. It spreads love, and peace. Language is not a barrier for loving the music, it is all about you inner-self.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position that music brings people together. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While the example of 'Coke Studio' is relevant and well-chosen, the essay drifts into irrelevant territory when discussing artificial intelligence and the regulation of the music industry, which does not contribute to the central argument regarding cultural and age-related unity. The conclusion is brief and somewhat repetitive. To improve, ensure that every paragraph directly supports the main thesis and avoid introducing new, tangential topics like AI, which detract from the focus of the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is sometimes weak. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'For instance', 'In conclusion'), others are used incorrectly or feel mechanical, such as the abrupt transition to the topic of artificial intelligence. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between the historical context of music and the modern-day examples could be smoother. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a more cohesive argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. There are some awkward word choices, such as 'rape' (likely a misspelling of 'rap') and 'music is revolutionized in each era' (should be 'has been'). The range is somewhat limited, relying on basic descriptors. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to the topic of culture and social connection. Proofreading is also essential to avoid spelling errors that can distract the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'music are categorized'), article usage (e.g., 'the music is a key element'), and punctuation errors, particularly with comma placement. Some sentences are fragmented or lack clarity, such as 'Means of listening music has been changed'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on sentence structure variety and correcting basic grammatical rules will significantly improve the quality of the writing.
