Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued by a few people that music is the best way to reduce the gap between people of unfamiliar customs and different ages. Undoubtedly music represents traditions but i do not believe that it is the only and viable way for this specific task and a comrehensive discussion about it will be provided in this essay.
First and primary reason to oppose this argument is that language is the most significant barier, which prevents us to bring these diverse cultures together and same problem is shared by music. For example, Pakistan releases its songs in its native language, that is Urdu while any English country like United States of America produces songs in English language, so if we want to exchange culture among these natives, we can not use music because no one will understand what that song means due to language gap.
Furthermore, these days every single person have its own taste and it is also depends upon their age. Teenagers, for instance, love to listen raps while aged individuals like to hear soft music related to love. As both genre have differnet nature and no one wants to share the same taste in music. That is why music will not able to gether people of different ages at same place.
Undoubtedly, it is true that music is indispensable to minimize the gap between cohort, who share the same interests and languages but it is not applicable to diverse cultures form differnt nations and all age groups due to above mentioned reasons.
To conclude, music is not reliable option to bring people of different cultures and ages together due to different languages of songs as well as different taste shared by different age groups and we need to look for some more alternative way or thing, which should be common for all to bring them close to eachother.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the idea that music is the best way to bridge cultural and age gaps. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The argument regarding language barriers is relevant, but the claim that music cannot transcend language is a generalization that ignores instrumental music or the emotional universality of melody. The second point regarding age-based musical tastes is also somewhat narrow. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced examples, such as how global music festivals or international pop stars often succeed in bridging these exact gaps, and then explain why you still find those instances insufficient.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First and primary reason', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'a comrehensive discussion about it will be provided in this essay', which is a redundant filler phrase. Referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly rather than relying on standard list-like transitions.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. There are several spelling errors, such as 'barier', 'comrehensive', 'differnet', 'gether', and 'form'. Additionally, some word choices are imprecise, such as 'unfamiliar customs' instead of 'diverse cultural backgrounds' and 'aged individuals' which sounds slightly unnatural compared to 'older generations'. While you successfully use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'indispensable' and 'cohort', the overall range is limited, and the recurring spelling mistakes prevent a higher score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('every single person have its own taste', 'it is also depends upon'), missing articles ('in English language'), and awkward phrasing ('no one wants to share the same taste in music'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure often feels repetitive. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with correct prepositional and article usage.
