Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the contemporary world, a significant number of individuals argues that music is a great way of bringing people together from different age groups and culture. I strongly supports the view because it narrows the generational gap and its a universal way of expressing emotions.
One major reason behind my agreement that music unite individuals is because it is a form of expressing ideas and emotions which is applicable to over the world. The rhythm and melody in voice is the excellent way of describing the way people feel. Music such as hip-hop, classical, and pop helps people to become familiar with traditions of different cultures and nations. For instance, music festival in the foreign countries assist people from different backgrounds to come together and works as bridge between them.
Furthermore, music reduces the gap among the generations. Although, people's have different taste in music, but certain songs can create opportunities for them to interact with each other. For example, parents and adults can introduce their children with the songs, that they enjoy in their initial times. Similarly, their child's can also tell them about the new artists arriving in the music industry. This communication between them can enhance their mutual understanding and can create a common grounds of taste for the both.
In conclusion, I reaffirm that music is a effective way of uniting and connecting people from different cultures and nations because it works as a bridge between the generations and enables individuals to come together from different traditions by providing a way for communication and interaction.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas regarding cultural exchange and bridging the generational gap are relevant and supported with examples, such as music festivals and intergenerational sharing of music. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of how music festivals act as a bridge could be more detailed to reach a higher band. The position is consistent, but the arguments could benefit from more depth to fully satisfy the requirements for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main arguments. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, there are some instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and the use of referencing could be more precise. For example, the transition 'Although, people's have different taste in music, but...' is grammatically awkward and disrupts the logical flow of the sentence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'generational gap', 'universal', and 'mutual understanding'. However, there are several word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'initial times' instead of 'youth' or 'earlier years', and 'common grounds of taste' which is slightly unnatural. The range is sufficient for the task, but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that detract from the quality of the writing. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('individuals argues', 'I strongly supports'), incorrect use of articles ('the excellent way'), and punctuation errors ('Although, people's have...'). These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, the writer should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of plural/singular forms.
