Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position, but the development of ideas is limited. While you mention sports events and school music programs as examples, these points are not fully extended or clearly linked to the core argument of 'bringing people together.' The response is also under the 250-word minimum, which negatively impacts the depth of the argument. To improve, ensure each paragraph provides a clear topic sentence followed by a detailed explanation and a concrete example that directly supports your thesis. The conclusion is also quite brief and lacks a summary of the main points discussed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow between sentences is often disjointed. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'In my second observation,' but the transitions between ideas are sometimes mechanical or confusing. For instance, the transition from discussing sports events to school music programs feels abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your train of thought. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a singular, well-developed focus will help create a more coherent and professional structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'Jost jilie' (likely 'just like'), 'prespective' (perspective), and 'full proof' (foolproof). You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with collocations, such as 'music lecture' instead of 'music education' or 'music classes.' To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that your spelling is accurate, as frequent errors can distract the reader and impede the clarity of your message.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Artist used this skills'), incorrect verb tenses, and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with sentence boundaries, which occasionally makes the text difficult to parse. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading your work to correct basic errors and practice constructing more complex sentences with accurate punctuation.
