Student answer (Band 5.0)
In this modern era, music has played a important role in refreshing and reducing stress. Its believed that music bring all type of individual together. I strongly with this statement as I witnessed people from different ages and cultures enjoying and dancing in the same song.
To illustrate, song is the most common way to relaxing. For instance, it’s attract not only children but also old age people. In addition, children seem to enjoy the music of a song. On the other hand, old people are trying to understand the lyrics. From my point of view, I watched my little sister and my grandmother are enjoying the same song and dance together. Consequently, music has a wonderful power to connect all ages of people.
Furthermore, song can create a bridge to different cultures people. For example, if a Bangladeshi song create a vibe, it will become famous to others county like India and Nepal.
Although some people do not understand the meaning of the song but they still enjoy song’s tune. Meanwhile, there are many people who never understand English song lyrics but they are still enjoying it. Likewise, some Indian song are not understandable for us but I see people enjoying it.
To conclusion, there are no barriers to enjoying song from different cultures. People also enjoy it without understanding. So, I totally agree with the notion that music can help to different cultures and ages people together.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position on the role of music in bridging cultural and age gaps. However, the essay falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While the arguments regarding age and cultural connection are relevant, they are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. The examples provided, such as the mention of Bangladeshi music or the anecdote about a sister and grandmother, are personal but could be expanded to provide a more comprehensive analysis of the topic. To improve, ensure that each paragraph fully explores the implications of the argument rather than simply stating them, and ensure the word count is met to allow for full development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To illustrate,' 'In addition,' 'Furthermore,' and 'Consequently.' However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Meanwhile, there are many people...' which does not fit the context well. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The conclusion is present but brief. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that the transition between ideas is logical and seamless.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. However, the range is limited, and there is significant repetition of basic words like 'song,' 'music,' and 'enjoy.' There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'all type of individual' instead of 'all types of individuals' and 'others county' instead of 'other countries.' The vocabulary lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations related to the topic of culture, social cohesion, and the arts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'music bring all type' (subject-verb agreement), 'a important role' (article usage), 'it’s attract' (incorrect verb form), and 'help to different cultures and ages people together' (awkward syntax). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent and occur in both simple and complex structures. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence construction. Proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency would also be highly beneficial.
