Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 209 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, which remain superficial and repetitive. While the prompt is addressed, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. The position is stated but not consistently supported throughout the essay. To improve, you must expand on your points with concrete examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a full exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is weak. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way, such as the frequent use of 'Moreover' and 'Many people'. Some sentences lack logical connection, making the flow of the argument disjointed. For instance, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is abrupt. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic words like 'good', 'nice', and 'enjoy'. There is little attempt to use less common or more precise vocabulary. Phrases such as 'people life' (instead of 'people's lives') and 'there songs' (instead of 'their songs') indicate issues with word choice and basic collocation. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including synonyms and topic-specific terminology, and pay closer attention to word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'Music are play' and 'Many cultures songs is very nice'. Sentence structures are predominantly simple, and there is a lack of complex grammatical forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of capital letters and sentence boundaries. Focusing on basic sentence construction, verb tenses, and subject-verb agreement is essential for improvement.
