Student answer (Band 6.0)
People argue that music provides valuable experiences and brings together people of different cultures and ages. It creates a sense of fondness and provides value to the people. I strongly agree with this narrative of connecting masses with music.
Nowadays, music is becoming more advanced as compared to the past. Music becomes a universal language for the people of different ages and cultures, as it provides them an opportunity to connect and converse with each other. Most of the time music artists use different sets of notes that enable them to convey their feelings to the audience. People listen to those lyrics and try to understand the meaning behind those lyrics; as a result, people tend to connect with each other in order to decipher those lyrics. They communicate with each other irrespective of their culture and ages.
There are a lot of music types, such as hiphop, casual, classic, etc. People of younger ages tend to like fast-paced music, but it is also liked by some of the aged people. This will be the same case for all other kinds of music. Music artists allow their listeners to connect to each other by providing various events and activities. This plays a vital role in building connections between people all over the world. The most popular way is by doing concerts at different places of the world, which will ultimately help people to understand each other irrespective of their races.
In conclusion, I would say music has always been an important aspect in human society, as it creates opportunities to share all kind of feelings with each other.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention that music acts as a 'universal language' and cite concerts as a method of connection, the arguments lack depth and specific, illustrative examples. For instance, you mention 'hiphop, casual, classic' but do not explain how these specific genres bridge generational or cultural gaps effectively. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning or concrete real-world scenarios rather than repeating the general idea that music connects people.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a clear progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and occasionally mechanical. For example, the phrase 'connect with each other' is used frequently, and the transition between sentences could be smoother. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the logical flow between the second and third paragraphs could be strengthened by using more varied linking words to show the relationship between the ideas presented.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'good way', 'people', and 'things'. Phrases such as 'most of the time' and 'a lot of' are quite informal and repetitive. There is an attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'decipher' and 'fast-paced', but overall, the lexical range is limited. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and academic vocabulary to express your ideas with greater nuance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies. For example, 'music becomes a universal language' should be 'music has become' or 'is', and 'aged people' is better expressed as 'older generations'. There are also minor issues with article usage and prepositional phrases (e.g., 'at different places of the world' should be 'in different parts of the world'). The errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score.
