Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to fully address the prompt. While it touches on music, it does not adequately discuss how music brings people of different cultures and ages together, which is the core of the task. Instead, the essay focuses on personal relaxation and the benefits/drawbacks of music for students. The position is unclear, and the ideas are not developed in relation to the prompt's specific focus on cultural and generational unity. Furthermore, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which significantly impacts the ability to develop a coherent argument. To improve, you must ensure every paragraph directly answers the specific question asked.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a clear logical progression. Ideas are presented in a fragmented manner, and there is a lack of effective paragraphing to separate distinct points. Cohesive devices are largely absent or used incorrectly, making the flow of the essay disjointed. For example, the transition between discussing relaxation and the disadvantages of music for students is abrupt and lacks a logical link. The use of referencing is also weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the intended argument. Improving the use of linking words and structuring your essay into clear introduction, body, and conclusion paragraphs is essential.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive, often relying on simple words like 'good', 'part of life', and 'music'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'give as piece fill mind' (likely meaning 'gives peace of mind') and 'fell tiered' (likely meaning 'feel tired'). These errors occasionally impede communication. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas or discuss the topic with any precision. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to culture, society, and human connection, and practice using these words in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammar is characterized by frequent errors that often distort meaning. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and sentence structure. For instance, 'it give as piece fill mind' and 'the student how are preparing' demonstrate a lack of control over basic grammatical structures. The essay relies almost entirely on simple sentences, with very few attempts at complex structures, and those that are attempted are usually grammatically incorrect. Punctuation is also inconsistent. You need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions.
