Student answer (Band 5.5)
Few individuals believe that people from various cultures and age groups can be brought together with the music. Well, I partially agree with this statement because in my opinion songs can bring individuals of multiple cultures together but it might fail when it comes to different age groups. I am going to justify my argument in the essay.
The foremost argument to justify my stand is that melodies is a good method to bring together different regions people to cite an instance, In October 2024 a song called echo was released by 2 different country music artists called Armaan Malik and Mathew which is a Superhit and also it became foundation for music artists for international collaborations. This song introduced me to many American songs and artists.
Furthermore, Music does not really help different age people vibe together for example, there was study conducted in university of reading which states that people who crossed their 30's are not willing to adapt to new music styles. My parents Spotify playlist majorly contain songs from 1980's and whenever we travel in the car there will be an argument to listen which type of songs.
In conclusion, music is a very unique way to bring various cultures people together which also leads to many opportunities for peoples to explore new musical styles and also collaborations but it does not bring together different aged people due to rapid change in musical styles.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses the prompt by discussing both cultural and age-related aspects of music. However, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. While the position is clear, the arguments—particularly regarding age groups—are somewhat anecdotal and could be expanded with more sophisticated reasoning. The example of the song 'Echo' is relevant, but the overall development is brief. To reach a higher band, you must ensure you meet the word count requirement and provide more detailed explanations for your claims to fully explore the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. For example, the transition 'The foremost argument to justify my stand is...' is a bit wordy, and the connection between sentences could be smoother. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is precise would improve the flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use some basic terms like 'good method' and 'vibe together', which are informal or imprecise. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'different regions people' and 'various cultures people'. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to the topic of music and social interaction. Expanding your vocabulary to include more sophisticated synonyms will help convey your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally affect clarity. Examples include 'melodies is a good method' (subject-verb agreement), 'different age people' (incorrect adjective usage), and 'majorly contain' (incorrect adverb usage). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of adjectives and adverbs will significantly improve your accuracy.
