Student answer (Band 5.5)

Inspite of language barrier it becomes excellent way of bringing different age of folks along with their cultures to blend well with one another. I do agree with the great extent still little drawbacks are seen which will be mentioned in further essay.

Music is medium through which everybody can connect to each other despite of their belongings. For instance, it gives a fresh start to new beginings. A lot of marraiges took place because of same taste in music so that they can vibe together. Sometimes people might not exchange a word during working hours but they can match very well in their music taste. Music is not about lyrics instead it is much more about feelings that one carry them while listening. Music defintely brings people closer and making their bond tightly. Despite of age , nowdays youngsters are more into retro songs leading them to bond well with older generations very well.

Some music can be enteratining for one while for some it could mere be noise pollution or hurting thier ears. Many sentiments are attached to music so it might be a memory of loved ones for alot of people while it could be trauma for many.

To conclude, no matter what disagrrements it brings majority still believe that music indeed bring communities as well as thier people together and keep them bounded tightly.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position, but the development of ideas is limited. While you mention that music brings people together, the supporting examples—such as 'marriages' and 'retro songs'—are brief and lack depth. Furthermore, the essay fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of your arguments. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and specific examples. The counter-argument regarding music as 'noise pollution' is introduced but not sufficiently integrated into your overall position. Aim to provide a more balanced and thorough exploration of the topic to meet the requirements for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'Inspite of language barrier' and 'Despite of age' are used incorrectly. The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, making the flow feel disjointed. While there is a logical progression from the introduction to the conclusion, the lack of sophisticated linking words limits the coherence. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' to connect your sentences and paragraphs more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on simple phrasing, such as 'vibe together' and 'match very well', which are informal. There are also several spelling errors, including 'beginings', 'marraiges', 'defintely', and 'enteratining'. While your meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated vocabulary and the presence of spelling mistakes prevent a higher score. Try to incorporate more academic collocations and ensure you proofread your work to eliminate basic spelling errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include missing articles (e.g., 'Inspite of language barrier'), incorrect preposition usage (e.g., 'despite of'), and subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'music indeed bring communities'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with commas. While you attempt some complex sentences, the frequency of errors is high. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips like article usage and verb forms.
