Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people say that music is a good way of bringing people of different cultures and ages
together.
On the one hand, i am agree with that music is the only way of enjoy of all age people. They feel good
when they here songs. They all here songs if they belongs with any culture are tradition. They listen
songs according to their own choice. When they tired
they listen music for entertainment. They feel better when they here songs. They listen the songs of any
one singer whose they like. In my personal experiance
i listen to the poetry of Ali khan. I like this poet because he is my own choice. When i here it i feel very good. It is a good person and he highlight the
reality. So they listen any one according to their own choice.
On the other hand, the people of the present time
like to listen classical music. But the people of old age like to listen old time music. They cannot like
the singers of present time. They like to here talib hussin durd. They find there entertainment in old songs. In this way, they cannot like the present time singers and their songs. So every person find
the thing of freedom according to their own choice.
In my opinion every person like songs are any thing who appear in his own time. He like these
things and want to see or listen these type of things and he also search these type of things whose he like.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt but fails to develop the argument effectively. While you mention that music is a matter of personal choice, you do not adequately discuss how it brings different cultures and ages together. The ideas are repetitive, focusing almost exclusively on individual preference rather than the social or cultural unifying power of music. The position is somewhat unclear because the arguments provided actually contradict the idea that music unites people, as you emphasize that different age groups prefer different types of music and cannot appreciate each other's choices. To improve, you should provide specific examples of how music acts as a bridge between generations or cultures, rather than focusing on personal taste.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is weak. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand', but these are not used effectively because the content within the paragraphs does not logically support the prompt. There is a lack of clear linking between sentences, and the repetition of phrases like 'according to their own choice' makes the writing feel mechanical and circular. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') and ensure that each sentence builds upon the previous one to create a cohesive argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic words like 'listen', 'songs', 'good', and 'choice'. There are also several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'here' instead of 'hear', 'experiance' instead of 'experience', and 'belongs with' instead of 'belongs to'. These errors occasionally impede communication. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'cultural heritage', 'generational gap', 'universal language', or 'diverse musical preferences', and pay closer attention to correct spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('every person like songs'), incorrect verb forms ('i am agree', 'they all here songs'), and misuse of pronouns ('whose they like'). Punctuation is also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the text from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions before attempting more complex structures.
