Student answer (Band 5.5)
I agree with the statement that music is a good way of bringing people of different cultures and ages together. Through music, people show the soft side of their country and culture. Meanwhile, there are some events like Tomorrow land, where people come from more than 100 nationalities and living there in camps for 3 to 7 days. This shows that people enjoy and love to interact with different race and culture through music.
There is some political differences between different countries but people love to listen their songs. Pakistan and India have some major political differences but people of both nations love to listen their songs.
Some people argue that with differences in politics, one should boycott each and every product of that country. I have a stance on this that there is already so much negativity in the world. If through music , singers and community is doing some good steps, everyone should play it part for the betterment of the overall image of that country. Political figures should avoid jumping into the music and art for their political gains and benefits.
Music and art should be respected worldwide and there should not be a stance that people who can not do anything or least talented people goes into music and art. I believe that if someone has passion in music, he should definitely pursue his passion and if passion and profession combines together, it will bring some amazing results and performances.
Thus, music is one of the primary reason where people start exploring cultures of different countries when it match with their interests and vibe.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear agreement with the statement. You provide relevant examples, such as the Tomorrowland festival and the cultural exchange between India and Pakistan, which support your position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The third and fourth paragraphs shift focus toward political interference and the professionalization of music, which are tangentially related but slightly distract from the core argument about music as a bridge between cultures and ages. To reach a higher band, ensure that every paragraph directly reinforces the central thesis regarding cultural and generational unity.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a central focus. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Meanwhile' and 'Thus', to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For instance, the jump from discussing political differences to the professional status of musicians in the fourth paragraph lacks a smooth logical bridge. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'everyone should play it part', where the connection to the previous argument could be more explicitly stated. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your ideas, such as 'nationalities', 'negativity', and 'pursue his passion'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor collocation errors, such as 'doing some good steps' (taking positive steps) and 'play it part' (play its part). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more academic synonyms for common verbs and adjectives to express your points with greater nuance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and pluralization, such as 'There is some political differences' (There are) and 'people of different race and culture' (races and cultures). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and punctuation. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic agreement errors and practice using more complex sentence structures, such as conditional clauses, with greater accuracy.
