Student answer (Band 5.5)
Music is considered as a way of solcializing with different cultures and it fills the gap among different age groups. Some proponents feel optimistic but some proponents do not agree to this statement as they feel a lack of understanding. I totally agree that music helps irradicating differences amoung different cultures and age group people and that they can connect more altogether.
Music has always used as an artform that express the emotions and feelings a person. Some how we get expose to different musics and even though one cannot understand the language of the song it is still highly listened due to its beats. One of the common example in india is they listen to brasil and french music and enjoy it so much, irrespective of the lyrics. The beats of the song, the highs and low of a tune, drives a person inner subconcious that makes it even more easy for the people to associate with it.
Generational gaps in the music industry has made it even more evident for people to connect to their grandparents lives just by listening to the type of music of that particular era. Now a days, the new genzs are more into the music composed in 90s. They say it gives calmness to the brain which in comparision to todays hip hop and rap culture is quite authentic. Altogether, some of the grandparents do listen to modern transformation of the songs from their time and enjoy it, feeling it as more lively and fun experience.
In conclusion, there are many cultural and age differences in national music industries as the population is widely diverse. Still, people connect to each other in the most obvious ways of expression, that is expressing themselves through art.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position on the role of music in bridging cultural and generational gaps. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of cross-cultural music consumption and the nostalgic value of music for different generations. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the example of Indian listeners enjoying Brazilian and French music is a good start, but it lacks specific detail to fully support the argument. Similarly, the discussion on generational gaps is a bit anecdotal. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why' and 'how' behind these phenomena with more depth and analytical insight rather than just stating observations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Some how we get expose' and 'Altogether, some of the grandparents'. Additionally, some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'it', 'they') is always clear and precise to improve the flow of your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'artform', 'subconscious', and 'authentic'. However, there are several spelling errors ('solcializing', 'irradicating', 'amoung', 'subconcious') and some awkward collocations ('new genzs', 'modern transformation of the songs'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they do indicate a lack of precision. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common academic words and pay closer attention to how words are typically paired in English. Expanding your range to include more precise academic collocations would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Music has always used as an artform'), incorrect verb forms ('get expose'), and punctuation/capitalisation errors ('india', 'brasil', 'genzs'). While you attempt complex sentences, the control over them is inconsistent, leading to minor errors that occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly verb tenses and article usage. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring they are error-free will help you achieve a higher band score.
