Student answer (Band 6.0)
I somewhat agree with the opinion that music is a good way of bringing people of various cultures and ages together.
Music is one of the most interesting way to express the feelings of people. It has been a very old medium of connecting people. We know that language is the medium of expressing feelings. However, when people can not express their feelings through language, they can use music to show it to their loved ones or to the audience.
Music is so powerful mode of communication that it has been composing since decades. Every country and culture own music of their native language. People can express feelings such as love, longing, anger, sadness, anxiety, fear or any kind of feelings through music.
People tend to hear variety of music nowadays and it is helping them to understand different countries' cultures and history. It is also connecting people of different ages. For example; BTS is a South Korean popular boy band which has enormous fan followers over the world. People from different continents are listening their songs everyday and they are getting interested in South Korean culture. Many people migrate to South Korea attracting to their culture and it has happened because of music.
Another girl band of South Korea called Blankpink has huge followers. These followers create group in social media and add with other fans who are from various ages, cultures, personalities and countries. But they connect in one thing that is music. In these way, music plays a good way of bringing people together.
However, I think music is not just the only way of connecting people of various backgrounds. People can get connected by studying at same university, working at same office, through same kind of profession or similar habits or interests or maybe through similar hatred too. There are many criteria that works as good ways of bringing people of various cultures and ages together. And music is one of them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that music is a significant, though not exclusive, tool for cultural and generational connection. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples like BTS and Blackpink. However, the development is somewhat uneven; while the examples are clear, the analysis of how music specifically bridges generational gaps could be more deeply explored. The conclusion provides a balanced view by acknowledging other factors that bring people together, which strengthens the overall argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully elaborated with more nuanced reasoning rather than just stating the example.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'However', 'For example', and 'In these way' are used to link sentences, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, though 'In these way' should be 'In this way'. The progression of ideas is logical, moving from the general power of music to specific examples and finally to a balanced perspective. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'enormous fan followers' and 'native language', though some collocations are slightly unnatural (e.g., 'composing since decades' should be 'composed for decades'). There are also minor word-choice errors, such as 'Music is so powerful mode' (missing 'a') and 'add with other fans' (should be 'connect with'). While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'one of the most interesting way' (should be 'ways'), 'Every country and culture own music' (should be 'owns'), and 'attracting to their culture' (should be 'attracted to'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are minor issues with semicolon usage in the example section. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and articles.
