Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing how music brings people of different cultures and ages together, and the writer clearly states their position by agreeing with the statement. Relevant ideas are presented, such as the global appeal of artists like Diljit Dosanjh and Karan Aujla, and the unifying role of folk music during special occasions. However, some arguments lack full development and generalisations are made without deep elaboration, placing this response at Band 6.0. The ideas are generally relevant, but the support provided in body paragraphs remains somewhat superficial and repetitive in places.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted to separate distinct points, although some paragraphs are underdeveloped. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'In addition', and 'Finally', but their deployment can feel mechanical and abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, for example, the transition 'then music helps to connect the people' lacks smooth integration with the preceding sentence. Overall progression is somewhat disjointed due to frequent structural interruptions, matching the criteria for Band 5.5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for the task, including terms like 'globalized', 'traditional folks roots', and 'occasions'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'Music is a languages way that connect different culture people' and 'Good music is a beautiful angels.' Word formation errors, like 'religions' instead of 'religious', and spelling slips are present. The lexical range is adequate to convey the main message, but frequent errors place this firmly at a Band 5.0 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability to construct multi-clause sentences. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors such as missing articles, incorrect verb forms ('Healing music, For example , it able to bring'), and faulty sentence boundaries. Sentences like 'When combination of technology and globalization it convey the positive message' suffer from major structural fragmentation and lack essential verbs. While communication is still generally achieved despite these errors, the high frequency of structural slips restricts the score to a Band 5.0.
