Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether music brings people of different cultures and ages together. A position is presented, stating that music does connect people across cultures and generations, and some supporting examples are provided, such as Coke Studios and artists like Nusrat Fateh Ali and Sidhu Moose Wala, as well as a family example. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive, and some sentences, such as 'some people says the music can be listen to related the ages', are confusing or contradictory. The ideas remain somewhat under-developed and lack extension. Therefore, the response aligns best with a Band 5 descriptor.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay is divided into several paragraphs, showing some structural organisation. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the logical flow is frequently disrupted by abrupt transitions and confusing sentences. Cohesive devices are minimal, repetitive, or inaccurately used (e.g., 'But on the other side some people can not be agree'). Paragraphing is attempted, but internal paragraph cohesion is weak, leading to difficulties for the reader in following the train of thought. This performance reflects the Band 4 descriptor.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, such as the repeated use of 'people', 'music', and 'different cultures and ages'. There are noticeable errors in word choice, form, and collocation, for example, 'can be listen', 'bring people of different ages and cultures together' (repeated verbatim), and 'like his rapes' (presumably meaning raps). These errors and limited range cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from achieving a higher band, placing it firmly at Band 4.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The writer demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences are simple or attempt complex structures that are faulty (e.g., 'there is no any song that can be related to the ages', 'In this type of countries can be listen music in his languages'). Errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions are frequent throughout the text, distorting meaning at times and causing frequent difficulty for the reader. This corresponds to a Band 4 level.
