Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, music is becming most important thing in everyone's life as it deals with loneliness, stress, anxity and many more. However, few people think that music is an effective way to combine two distinct cultures and ages. I partially agree to this notion and discussion related to this will be covered in upcoming paragraphs.
On the one hand, people who argues that music is benefitial states that music is a beautifull creation of humans that acts as a medicine for all the emotions, however if a culture liked a music produced by other nation or civilisation it can streghthen the bond. along with the information of each others rituals, religions, living style etc. Moreover, it is also a great way to combine two people no matter of what age group they are belonged to. many people really enjoy listening music which is produced in any other languge due to vibe it carries along with mind refreshing beats and tunes.
nevertheless, it also contains some drawbacks that includes the non negociable wordings that can be considered as a sin to say in one religion but for producers of that music and songs may be considered normal later which can promote conflicts and hate. Further more there are a few songs that are made for universal population despite that most of music industry focus on songs that can be related by different age groups only, leading in the mismatch between different age groups.
To conclude, however music can promote overall knowledge and help in feeling good universally but its negative aspects are also not to be ignored.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the positive and negative aspects of music in bringing people together across cultures and generations, presenting a partially agreed position. The main ideas are generally relevant, but some are under-developed or lack clarity, such as the claim regarding non-negotiable wordings in songs promoting conflict. While the introduction outlines the stance, the body paragraphs could have offered more specific real-world examples to fully substantiate the claims rather than relying on broad generalisations. Consequently, the response aligns best with Band 6 descriptors, as it covers the task requirements adequately but lacks deep extension and robust development of ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at paragraphing, introducing the topic, discussing both sides in separate body paragraphs, and providing a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty or mechanical. For example, sentences within the second paragraph are overly long and run together using words like 'however' and 'along with' rather than being neatly separated or linked, leading to run-on structures. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical progression is disrupted by convoluted sentence boundaries. Overall, the organisational structure is visible, but cohesive devices and punctuation are mishandled, pointing firmly to a Band 5.5 or Band 6 performance; given the logical paragraph breaks, a Band 6 is appropriate.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'civilisation', 'universal population', and 'discrepancy'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'becming' instead of becoming, 'anxity' instead of anxiety, 'benefitial' instead of beneficial, 'beautifull', 'streghthen', and 'negociable'. Furthermore, collocations are sometimes awkward, such as 'combine two people' instead of 'bring people together' or 'bridge the gap'. These lexical inaccuracies and persistent spelling mistakes restrict the score, aligning with the Band 5 descriptor where errors cause some difficulty for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some ambition in sentence structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, and sentence boundaries, such as 'people who argues' (subject-verb agreement error), 'age group they are belonged to' (passive voice misuse), and lack of proper terminal punctuation leading to massive run-on sentences in the second paragraph. Punctuation is largely neglected, with comma splices and missing periods obscuring grammatical relationships. Because these errors occur frequently and occasionally impede smooth reading, the writing sits comfortably within the Band 5 category.
