Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the recent years, the topic become a subject of considerable debate. Some people argue that music is the only way to bringing people of different countries ,cultures and also of different ages together. While some people disagree with this statement.Music has a power to unite people from different culture background and generations.I completely agree with this statement because music has ability to unite people together.

Firstly, music connect together.Unlike language music does not need any translation. Its medoly and rhythm can be understood and enjoyed by every one.For example platforms like coke studio,Spotify and Youtube made it possible for the prople to listen the music all over the world.A person in Pakistan can enjoy the K POP from Korea, while someone in Europe enjoed the Nustrat qawali.where they have the sme emotion and feelings.this culture exchange through the music promotes tolerance and understanding.

Secondly, music also bring gap between different age group. In many families everyone has their own taste of music like our grand parents have different taste and intrest. For intance,at wedding family functions all age of people listen the same music and dance to the same group. This rduce the genereation gap and strenghten their bond.

In my opinion, music bring the positivity in our life.Because of music we can sit in the same room with our parents and grand partens and enjoy the moment. It will become a beautiful memory for everyone in future.

In conclusion, people have differen prefrences in music.I believe it is the most effective way of people of different culture and different ages bring together.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing how music brings people of different cultures and ages together, clearly stating a position in agreement with the statement. Ideas are presented and supported with examples, such as mentioning platforms like Spotify and family weddings. However, the development of these ideas remains somewhat superficial and lacks extension. For instance, the discussion on cultural exchange and generation gaps touches upon relevant points, but does not deeply explore the implications. Furthermore, the introduction is somewhat repetitive regarding the prompt. While all parts of the task are addressed, the depth of exploration corresponds to a Band 6.0 performance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into distinct paragraphs, showing an attempt at a logical structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the flow is frequently disrupted by cohesion issues, mechanical transitions ('Firstly', 'Secondly'), and inadequate referencing. For instance, sentences within paragraphs can feel disjointed due to missing conjunctions and abrupt shifts in thought, as seen in the second paragraph where ideas about global platforms and emotional connection are crowded together without smooth signposting. Paragraphing is used, but the overall progression of ideas feels a bit repetitive, particularly in the conclusion which restates previous points rather than synthesizing them. This overall organization and mechanical cohesion reflect a Band 5.5 performance.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms like 'considerable debate', 'culture exchange', 'tolerance', and 'generation gap'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices throughout the text, such as 'brings gap' instead of 'bridges the gap', 'all age of people' instead of 'people of all ages', and 'rduce' (spelling error). The repetition of phrases like 'different cultures and ages' also limits the lexical score. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main arguments, the frequency of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes places this firmly in the Band 5.0 range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical control is weak. There are frequent errors in punctuation, articles, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions. Examples include 'In the recent years, the topic become', 'music connect together', 'does not need any translation. Its medoly', and 'enjoyed the Nustrat qawali.where'. Many complex structures contain errors that occasionally impede smooth reading, such as 'made it possible for the prople to listen the music all over the world'. Punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas and periods, are pervasive. Because errors are frequent and affect readability, the grammar aligns with a Band 5.0 descriptor.
