Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued by some individuals that music plays a significant role in the collaboration of people of various cultures and eras. Personally, I believe that audio entertainments are essential in joining the citizens of various races, despite they bring complication in some aspects of society.

First and foremost, music is a crucial way to gather the people at one platform who belong to different cultures and communities. The prime reason is that music is prefered by every person of society, the youngers and elders both listen to it, without prioritizing the music of specific nations or ages. People listen to the audio productions of all communities and appreciate their work without any conflict. Therefore, music is a incredible source of joining the diverse public. For example, today, singers who belong to various countries collaborate with each other in the songs. Moreover, if the concert of Pakistani singer helds in other countries, people of every culture buy the tickets and enjoy it.

In contrast, there may some lyrics in the composition of music by specific nation that are not accepted by other community. This can result in a serious confliction among people, although it happens rarely. For instance, India and Pakistan have contradiction in many aspects, and several times there were serious issues arise due to the music compositions. However, this condition is very rare, in most cases music plays important role in bringing citizens together who share similar music tastes.

In conclusion, nowadays, music is the priority of many people, despite their age, therefore, it results in the collaboration of citizens that belongs to different age groups and culture. However, sometimes, it creates confliction among people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout. The writer explores both the unifying potential of music across different cultures and ages, and acknowledges the counter-argument regarding cultural misunderstandings and conflicting lyrics. Ideas are generally well supported with relevant examples, such as international collaborations and concerts featuring Pakistani singers, as well as geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan. However, some arguments lack deeper extension, occasionally falling into generalisation. The position is maintained effectively from the introduction through to the conclusion, satisfying the main requirements for a Band 6.5 to Band 7 descriptor profile, though the lack of fuller elaboration on certain points keeps it at a solid Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, separating the introduction, body paragraphs on unifying aspects, the counter-argument regarding conflicts, and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', 'In contrast', and 'In conclusion', though some are used in a slightly mechanical or repetitive manner (e.g., 'confliction'). Referencing and paragraph transitions generally guide the reader through the text successfully, despite minor awkwardness in logical flow between sentences. Overall, the organizational structure meets the criteria for Band 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'collaboration', 'appreciate', and 'complication'. However, there are notable word choice and word formation inaccuracies throughout the text. Examples include 'audio entertainments' instead of 'music' or 'audio recordings', 'prefered' (spelling error), 'incredible source' (should be 'an incredible source'), 'helds' instead of 'is held', and the coinage 'confliction' instead of 'conflict'. These lexical errors and awkward collocations place the response firmly in the Band 6 category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses (e.g., 'artists who belong to various countries collaborate...'). However, grammatical errors are frequent and occasionally impede clarity. Noticeable issues include subject-verb agreement and prepositional errors, such as 'citizens that belongs' (instead of 'belong'), 'gather the people at one platform' (preposition misuse), 'there may some lyrics' (missing verb), and 'issues arise' (tense inconsistency). Punctuation is generally functional, but structural inaccuracies across complex sentences restrict the score to Band 5.5.
