Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The thought of bringing ages and cultures from different sector through music involve a positive remark and i partially agree at this mindset while this concept can also be challenging and sometimes does not work which can also involve the perpective of disagreeing too.
Many cultures involve different taste in music and due to its lyrics seprate cultures can be mixed together. Music involves different meaning which does not include any kind of racism, camparision or value between cultures or ages and it makes easier for individuals to enjoy that. In Pakistan, a sindhi song was made which got popularity by the wide range of cultural people within days and brought many individuals together to review that songs.
In contrast, old and curltural people find music boring at a particular age. Age factor and language barrier has been a huge reason for people like them to avoid music and not come together through songs as it becomes tiring, hard to understand the meaning of such songs, have other things to concentrate on like their physical health, and the choice of the music can also be the case too. in western countries, english people avoid to listen to songs made indians or pakistani's due to the language and understanding factor hence that has made that community stay away from many other communities.
In conclusion, the idea of getting seperate cultures and and ages together is great but the reason that stops is the language barrier. The outcome of this could be made by preparing music in way that could be understoond by every old and cultural person.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument—how music brings people together across cultures and ages, and conversely, how barriers prevent this. The writer presents a clear partial position in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and lacks depth. For instance, the example of the Sindhi song in Pakistan is stated rather than fully explored, and the counter-argument regarding language barriers relies on generalisations rather than well-supported evidence. While all parts of the task are addressed, the support remains basic and could be extended further to meet the higher band criteria. This places the response comfortably at Band 6.0, as it presents a relevant and clear position with ideas that are generally pertinent, even if some development is underdeveloped.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay is organised into four paragraphs: an introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a brief conclusion. There is an overall logical progression, moving from agreement to contrast, and then to a concluding thought. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or awkwardly handled, such as the transition 'In contrast, old and curltural people find music boring at a particular age.' Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, and paragraphing is disrupted by abrupt shifts in topic within the body paragraphs. While the text is coherent overall, the management of cohesion and referencing is faulty enough to prevent it from reaching a Band 7.0, making Band 6.0 the most accurate reflection of these organizational weaknesses.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common terms such as 'perpective', 'camparision', and 'language barrier'. However, there are notable spelling errors throughout the response, including 'seprate', 'curltural', 'indians', and 'understoond', alongside minor word-choice inaccuracies like 'this mindset' instead of 'this view'. While these lexical slips and spelling mistakes do not impede overall communication—allowing the reader to follow the argument—they prevent the vocabulary from achieving the flexibility and precision required for Band 7.0. Therefore, a Band 6.0 is appropriate, reflecting an adequate range that allows the message to come across despite frequent inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization, and phrasing, such as 'The thought of bringing ages and cultures from different sector through music involve a positive remark', where subject-verb agreement fails ('involve' instead of 'involves', and 'sector' missing a plural 's'). Other errors include missing articles and awkward prepositional use. Although these errors do not severely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the writing from achieving the frequent error-free sentences characteristic of Band 7.0. The control of grammar aligns best with the Band 5.0 or 6.0 descriptors, specifically fitting Band 5.0 due to the accumulation of frequent structural and punctuation errors.
