Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people believe that music is a fantastic way of engaging people of various cultures and heritage. I firmly agree with this statement because music is a universal appeal and it creates a greater sense of community so they can build new relationships with each other.
Few individuals prefer music. The majority of people love to listen music. This is because it offers greater entertainment and excitement. In fact, music has become an integral part of people's lives because they listen while doing household chores or driving. It makes the journey easy and amusing. In addition, people have different taste in listening songs; few listen punjabi songs and some people show affection towards English music so it encourages the listeners to get knowledge about culture and age of different areas. For instance, many teenagers learn and listen music everyday to unwind daily stress and complete tasks easily.
Undoubtedly, music brings fans together. This is because they develop a better relationship with their fellows. When in a friend's gathering different friends come with different music taste, they share their favourite singers, melodies and rythms. As a result, they become close companians of each other. Furthermore, whenever, any person is required assistance so stronger community individuals are always there to help. For example, there are many concerts are arranged by cities to bring people together and they make new friends there as well.
In conclusion, I strongly agree with this view that music plays an essential role in developing good bonds between people of different cultures and ages because every person in the world shows interest towards music and they develop strong community relationship.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by clearly stating their agreement with the prompt and discussing how music bridges different cultures and ages. The position is clear throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas tends to be somewhat superficial and repetitive at times. For instance, the second paragraph starts by discussing general music listening habits before awkwardly transitioning to how different tastes encourage cultural knowledge. While examples are provided, such as teenagers listening to music to unwind and city-arranged concerts, they are not fully elaborated. The essay meets the requirements for Band 6 because it addresses all parts of the task and presents relevant ideas, but these ideas are occasionally under-developed and lack the depth expected for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different supporting points, such as individual listening habits versus social concert experiences. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. The writer relies heavily on basic cohesive devices like 'This is because', 'In addition', and 'For instance', which creates a somewhat repetitive flow. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the phrasing 'so stronger community individuals are always there to help,' which disrupts the logical progression of the argument. Overall, the organizational structure is adequate for a Band 6, showing clear overall progression despite clumsy transitions and mechanical cohesive device usage.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'universal appeal', 'integral part', and 'unwind daily stress'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'engaging people of various cultures and heritage' (instead of cultural backgrounds), 'listen music' (missing the preposition 'to'), and 'close companians' (spelling error). The phrase 'listen punjabi songs' is also unnatural. These lexical slips and inaccuracies indicate a Band 6 level, where the vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the message, but frequent minor errors in word choice and spelling prevent the writing from achieving a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The essay employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety through relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical control is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing prepositions ('listen music'), awkward phrasing ('whenever, any person is required assistance'), and tense or pluralization errors like 'there are many concerts are arranged'. Despite these errors, they rarely impede overall communication, as the reader can still grasp the intended meaning easily. This balance of mixed structures and frequent minor errors aligns closely with the Band 6 descriptors for Grammatical Range and Accuracy.
