writing task - 2

Nowadays, music play a crucial role part

of human life and some people believe

that it is an effective way to connect

individuals from different cultures and age

groups. I completely agree with this statement

discuss in next two paragraphs along

with logical conclusion.

To commence with, there are multifarious

reasons music is an good way to connect people

from different Culture and age groups. Firstly

music can connect people from different

cultures even when they do not speak

the same language. People do not always

need to understand the language of the

song to enjoy it whether or melody. For

example, Indian music has become popular in

many countries, and people from different

backgrounds enjoy Bollywood songs and

dances. Therefore, music can encourage

people to learn more about other culture

and traditions.

On the other hand, music is also a

useful way to connect different age

groups. Older generations can share

traditional songs with younger family

member, while young people can

introduce their favourite modern

musicians to their parents and

grandparents. For instance, a research,

in New York City revealed that 60%

population believes that music is good way

to connect different generation together.

As a result, of it a very good way

spend quality time with their family

and make a very goo strong bond.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that music

can unite people from different cultures

and age groups. It provide more common

enjoyment and people know about

different culture and tradition

and enhance knowledge level.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing how music brings different cultures and ages together, presenting a clear position of agreement. The introduction states, 'I completely agree with this statement,' and the body paragraphs offer relevant examples, such as Indian music and family traditions. However, the development is somewhat limited and relies on sweeping assertions. For example, the claim about New York City ('a research in New York City revealed that 60% population believes...') feels generalised and unelaborated. While the prompt's requirements are met and all parts are addressed, the ideas would benefit from deeper extension and more precise supporting details to reach a higher band. Overall, the response fulfills the basic demands of Task Achievement, aligning with the descriptors for Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The text demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, body points, and conclusion logically. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'To commence with,' 'Firstly,' and 'On the other hand.' However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, and referencing is occasionally unclear. For instance, the transition 'As a result, of it a very good way spend quality time...' is awkwardly phrased and creates a disjointed flow. Additionally, the phrase 'discuss in next two paragraphs along with logical conclusion' in the introduction is a meta-commentary that disrupts natural cohesion. Paragraphing is present and separates ideas adequately, but the internal referencing and transitional links require smoother execution to achieve a Band 7.0. Therefore, a score of 6.0 is appropriate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'multifarious,' 'generations,' and 'traditional.' However, there are noticeable word-choice, collocation, and form errors throughout the text. Examples include 'music play a crucial role part' (grammatical/lexical slip), 'an good way' (article error affecting lexical flow), 'other culture' (singular/plural mismatch), and 'goo strong bond' (typographical/lexical error). While these inaccuracies do not seriously impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the response from reaching Band 7.0. The vocabulary demonstrates sufficient flexibility to convey the main ideas, safely landing at Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like relative clauses ('even when they do not speak the same language') and conditional-like ideas. However, there are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and article usage. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('music play'), missing articles ('an good way'), and faulty punctuation around clauses and prepositional phrases ('As a result, of it a very good way spend quality time'). While these errors are noticeable and require the reader to occasionally pause, they rarely completely impede communication. Because complex structures are attempted but often marred by frequent basic and structural errors, the writing matches the Band 5.0 descriptors.
