Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people believe that music is the an amazing source of cultural mixing and reducing the distances between various civilizations. Moreover, it brings all ages closer in any culture. I do agree with this school of thought and in this essay I will explain my ideas and provide examples to support them.
Every culture has its own unique norms in eating, dressing, language and Art. Music comes in the category of Art which includes a wide range of instruments and languages. Multiple things bring the cultures togather and music plays a vital role in this. Each country has its own different music, however it still gathers them. For example during the FIFA football world cup, a song is been launched and it is always in a different language. But, each country and their followers sing that song togather and enjoy the game.
Additionally, the songs of different occassions like weddings, Eids and birthdays are also overlapping in many cultures. People celebrate their special events togather and enjoy each other's culture with the help of music. For Instance, Canada is a multicultural society and all the muslims are not from the same country. But when they celebrate Eid they bring each others culture closer and music plays a role in it.
In conclusion, I will mention that music and the musical instruments are mostly common in entire world. It is just the production of music and langauge which makes it different. Many cultures attract the opposite with the support of their music and generations get togather consequently.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position agreeing that music brings different cultures and ages together. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as international events like the FIFA World Cup and multicultural celebrations like Eid in Canada. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others, resulting in a somewhat general treatment of the prompt. For instance, the discussion regarding age groups is briefly stated in the introduction and conclusion but lacks detailed expansion in the body paragraphs, where the focus shifts predominantly to cultures. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to ensure that all aspects of the prompt receive equal, well-extended support and thorough explanation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, as well as distinct body paragraphs. Information and ideas are logically sequenced, moving smoothly from a general overview to specific examples like the FIFA World Cup and multicultural community celebrations. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'For instance' are used to connect ideas, though referencing is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly formulaic. The response fully satisfies the requirements of the lower band and demonstrates some elements of the next, notably a clear logical progression throughout, but requires more flexible and natural paragraph links to progress further.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying the writer's ideas with a mix of everyday terms and some less common items like 'multicultural society' and 'civilizations'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally detract from the precision of the writing, such as 'togather' instead of 'together', 'occassions' instead of 'occasions', and the phrasing 'the an amazing source'. Additionally, awkward collocations like 'attract the opposite' limit precision. These errors do not impede overall communication, placing the response securely in this category. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand the range of vocabulary and eliminate basic spelling and collocation mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and relative clauses. There are several grammatical errors in article usage, verb tenses, and prepositions, such as 'is been launched' instead of 'is launched' and 'in entire world' instead of 'in the entire world'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, and these errors rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the argument without significant difficulty. The grammar features a limited range of reliable complex structures alongside frequent minor errors. To improve, the writer should focus on mastering verb voice, article consistency, and prepositional patterns to produce a higher proportion of error-free sentences.
