Student answer (Band 6.0)

Music plays s crucial role in individuals' lives. A group of people think that, music is an effective way to connect individuals of various cultures and ages. As per my perspective, I agree with the larger extent that, music has enormous benefits and a bunch people are listen music not only for the entertainment purpose, but also learn new cultures.

Firstly, one of the reasons music erodes barriers among different nations and cultures are that people enjoy music from every part of the world, and it speaks the same language, which embodies human emotion, joy, love, and sorrow. Music does not need interpretation to be enjoyed and understood touches hearts and resonates in minds. No matter what language people speak or understand, citizens appreciate the melody and depth of music, which is why people of all ages can sit together and enjoy the same music. To cite an example, few viral music in foreign languages in the host country signifies how it speaks to individuals minds and hearts rather than just a human language.

Secondly, each and every nations have their own music as well as instruments and it is a significant part of the culture. In addtion to, people influence from the foreign movies and various singing conferences. As a consequence, individuals get an idea about other culture's instrumental system and the language and they also try to learn from it. Although foreign music is difficult to learn, plenty of intresting people learning via online platforms. To cite an example, one of the famous countries of instrument is Rome and it is very popular for the violin. Nowadays many Indian people are play violin easily and it is the most significant way to connect with other culture.

Finally, music is an art form, which is enjoyed by all, and this helps reduce the generation and age gaps among people. To illustarate, when the national anthem is played, children, adults, and elders all tune into the same emotion, which is patriotism, and adults their unity is stronger than ever. The same can be said when music evokes other emotions like love, sadness, and so on. Besides, some music categories are loved by all, and the listeners feel a sense of togetherness in a divine way which is almost absent in other art forms. It not only eliminates age gaps, but also generation and cultural gaps.

To conclude, music is a universally accepted and supreme art form, enriches human lives and strengthens the connection between us, regardless of humans backgrounds, cultures and ages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the task with a clear position throughout, earning a solid score in this area. The introduction successfully establishes your viewpoint on how music unites different ages and cultures. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as the mention of foreign viral music and the national anthem evoking shared emotions. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise in places, and some arguments, like the brief mention of the violin in Rome and India, are slightly underdeveloped or lack robust logical progression. To reach a higher band, you would need to fully develop all main ideas with more precise and sophisticated real-world examples, avoiding slight leaps in reasoning between paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at logical organisation, though cohesion is occasionally mechanical and referencing is not always clear. You use standard transition markers like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'To conclude' to structure your response, which demonstrates a clear progression of ideas. However, some cohesive devices feel repetitive, and referencing words like 'it' in sentences such as 'one of the famous countries of instrument is Rome and it is very popular for the violin' create slight confusion. To achieve a higher level, you need to use a wider variety of cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure that inter-sentence transitions flow more naturally without relying heavily on formulaic markers.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'patriotism', 'togetherness', and 'universally accepted'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form that occasionally impede communication. Examples of lexical slips include 'plays s crucial role' (typographical error), 'a bunch people are listen music' (informal phrasing and incorrect verb form), 'each and every nations' (pluralisation error), and 'plentiful of intresting people learning' (awkward collocation and spelling). To move higher, you need to expand your vocabulary range, pay closer attention to natural collocations, and eliminate spelling and word-choice errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause some difficulty for the reader. While you attempt complex structures, clauses are often marred by agreement issues, missing articles, and awkward prepositions. Examples of grammatical errors include 'A group of people think that, music is' (unnecessary comma and subject-verb agreement), 'one of the reasons music erodes barriers... are that' (subject-verb agreement error), 'people influence from the foreign movies' (passive voice misuse), and 'adults their unity is stronger than ever' (fragmented clause structure). To reach the next level, you need to improve your control over complex sentence patterns, ensure correct subject-verb agreement, and reduce the frequency of structural errors.
