Student answer (Band 5.0)

By some people music is a thing that brings people of different ages and cultures together. In my opinion I donot agree with statement.

In recent times music is everyone's favourite. By music individual can spend their free time with entertainment. But every individual have different taste in music like old people listen some devotional songs like aarti and diwans. But younger people listen some banger hip hop music that make them energetic. Because of different taste of music it becomes difficult to make balance between older and younger people.

On the other hand , it is seen that people of different cultures like cultural songs. For example individuals from punjab like punjabi songs , people from haryana like haryanvi songs and so on. In Punjab Karan aujla is the best punjabi singer but in other countries like canada Australia individuals even donot know his name. There is also some controversies in music industries that is also a reason for people to donot become together.

In conclusion, it is found that music is not the thing that makes good relationship between individuals of different ages and cultures.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response only partially addresses the prompt because it falls significantly short of the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, containing only 187 words. While you present a clear position of disagreement, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, your points regarding different music preferences across ages and cultures are introduced briefly with basic examples, such as mentioning devotional songs versus hip hop, but they lack the necessary extension and depth to fully explore the prompt. To reach a higher level, you need to write more extensively, ensuring that every main idea is supported with detailed explanations and fully developed examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

Your essay shows some basic organisation with the use of standard paragraph breaks and transition signals such as 'In recent times', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, there is no clear overall progression throughout the text, and some relationships between ideas feel abrupt or mechanical. Cohesive devices are used rather repetitively and sometimes inaccurately, such as starting multiple sentences with 'By music' or 'Because of different taste'. Referencing can also be unclear at times. To improve coherence and cohesion, you should use a wider variety of cohesive ties more naturally and ensure that your arguments flow logically from one sentence to the next without abrupt jumps.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You demonstrate a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using familiar words like 'entertainment', 'favorite', and 'culture'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and collocation, such as 'donot agree with statement', 'make balance', 'cultural songs', and 'controversies in music industries', which occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. Furthermore, there are awkward phrasings like 'individuals even donot know his name'. To achieve a higher band score, you need to expand your lexical repertoire, incorporate less common vocabulary with greater precision, and pay closer attention to natural word partnerships and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your writing displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors in basic grammar, verb forms, and articles. Examples include missing plural forms ('different taste', 'devotional song'), incorrect subject-verb agreement or auxiliary usage ('every individual have', 'individuals ... donot know'), and missing prepositions. Attempts at complex sentences tend to be faulty, and the frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve your grammar score, you should focus on increasing sentence structure variety, mastering subject-verb agreement, using articles correctly, and reducing basic mechanical errors through careful proofreading.
