Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You take a partly clear position in “To some extent,” and your examples about Pakistani and Indian performers are relevant to how music can connect cultures. However, the response mainly describes cross-cultural collaboration and gives little explanation of how music brings people of different ages together; the Pakistan Idol example is mentioned but not developed. The opening also promises to discuss the issue rather than clearly setting out your reasons, and there is no concluding statement. The response contains 167 words, so it is 83 words below the 250-word minimum; 16 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop both parts of the question, explain your examples, and state your position clearly throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic sequence from an introduction to examples, and phrases such as “Although” and “In this way” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the response is presented as one long body paragraph after the introduction, so the discussion lacks clear stages and an overall progression. Several links are awkward or unclear: “Although” introduces no contrasting main clause, while the move from international collaborations to copied songs and then auditions is abrupt. The final sentence does not provide a conclusion. Use separate paragraphs for cultural connections, age-related connections, and your conclusion, and make each transition show how the next example supports your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “interact,” “coordinated,” “cultures,” and “auditions,” which helps communicate the general subject. There is also some variation in how you refer to music and performers. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “for their fame and money,” “music voices,” and “a melodious songs.” “Music Artist” and “pakistani” also show inconsistent capitalization, while “Morever” is misspelled. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the main examples, but they limit precision and naturalness. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for describing collaboration, shared experiences, and audiences, and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and a more complex structure, for example, “Although, some pakistani singers get offers from India…,” and the main message is generally understandable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. Examples include “I agreed” where the intended meaning calls for “I agree,” “Atif Aslam sing,” and “An well known example are.” The opening also runs sentences together in “To some extent,I agreed with this opinion. This essay…,” and commas are often placed incorrectly after introductory words. Practise accurate present-tense forms and subject–verb agreement, and use full stops and commas to separate complete ideas. More reliable control of these patterns would make your varied attempts clearer.
