Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is argued by someone that music is a good way of bringing people of different cultures and ages together.I completly agree with this assertion as music and song are a very creative and mindblowing thing which does alot to the subconsious mind people of every age group enjoys music as music is a universal language and a powerfull tool for bringing individuals from diverse culture and different age groups together.
To begin with, music acts as powerful bridge between distinct cultures because it communicates emotions without relying on spoken words. When people listen of songs, music, rhythms they experience universal human feeling such as joy, sorrow, and happy etc.
In addition, music possesses a unique ability to bridge generational gaps. While younge and older genaration often disagree on lifesyle choices, music remains a commen ground where they can connect. For instance, old classical songs are still continued to be celebrated by both grandparents and grandchildren creating opportunities for family bondings and shared nostalgia.Similarly when young people explore the musical hertage the past or when older generation appericate morden generation, it fosters intergenerational gaps. This shared appreciation helps reduce the difference between age grouops.
In conclusion, I strongly belive that music is a magnificent force for social cohension. It successfully unites people across both cultures and ages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear from the opening: “I completely agree,” and you address both cultural and generational connections. The examples of shared emotional responses to music and grandparents enjoying classical songs are relevant, but the cultural point remains general, while the generational example is more developed. The claim that music “fosters intergenerational gaps” also appears to contradict your argument; explain that it helps bridge or reduce those gaps. The response contains 201 words, so it is 49 words below the 250-word minimum; 15 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. This limits the space available to develop and support your ideas. Add a specific example and explain how it demonstrates your view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs addressing different ways music connects people, and a conclusion that restates your position. “To begin with,” “In addition,” and “In conclusion” help signal this progression. However, some links between ideas are unclear or mechanical. For example, the sentence beginning “Similarly when young people explore…” is difficult to follow, and “fosters intergenerational gaps” conflicts with the surrounding point. The opening paragraph also packs several ideas into one long sentence, making the argument harder to track. Use clearer sentence boundaries and make each example’s connection to the main claim explicit; this would strengthen the overall progression and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “universal language,” “bridge generational gaps,” “shared nostalgia,” and “social cohesion.” These phrases show an effort to express ideas beyond basic vocabulary. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “completly,” “subconsious,” “commen,” and “appericate,” and some expressions are unnatural or imprecise, such as “mindblowing thing” and “happy” in the list of emotions. “Fosters intergenerational gaps” also uses a phrase that reverses your intended meaning. Check spelling carefully and choose precise collocations; for instance, describe music as a “powerful means of connection” and refer to “happiness” rather than “happy” when listing emotions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple statements and attempts at more complex structures, such as “While young and older generations often disagree…, music remains a common ground…” and “when… it fosters…”. The main ideas are generally understandable, but some errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation reduce accuracy. The opening is a run-on sentence, with several clauses joined without appropriate punctuation. Other examples include “acts as powerful bridge,” which needs an article, and “people… enjoys,” where the verb does not agree with its subject. There are also missing spaces after full stops and commas. Break long sentences into manageable units, check subject–verb agreement, and proofread articles and punctuation.
