Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some people believe that music has ability to bring together individuals from from different cultural backgrounds and age groups. I strongly agree with this view because music encourages communication and helps people appreciate diffrent traditions.
Firstly, music has the ability to overcome linguistic and cultural barriers. People from various countries enjoy same songs and performances despite of speaking different languages. International music festivals, for example attract audience from around the world and get opportunity to learn about other cultures. In addition, the popular global genres such as pop and classical music demostrate how melodies and rythms can create sence of unity from diverse communities.
Secondly, music can strengthens relationships between generations. Older and younger people often have diffrent interests, but music provides commom ground for interactions. Family celebrations and social events always involve songs on which people from all ages participate and enjoy. Furthermore, learning and performing in group on social events enables individuals to co-operate and develop mutuals undersranding. For instance, in school choirs and community bands often include people from all age groups that hepls foster social bond.
Admittedly, music preferrences vary from person to person and some genres may appeal specific audience but this does not diminis the power of music that involves enjoyment and love for global songs which enables interest and respect for diverse traditions.
In conclusion, people may have different choices of music, but I strongle agree that music is the ultimate platfrom for social connections and the immense enjoyment that brings old and young generation together.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the introduction, where you strongly agree, and it remains consistent in the conclusion. You address both cultural differences and age groups, giving relevant examples such as international festivals, family celebrations, school choirs and community bands. The two main reasons—music crossing language barriers and creating shared experiences between generations—are extended with explanation, which supports a well-focused response. Some claims, however, remain broad: for example, the statement that festivals give audiences an opportunity to learn about other cultures would be stronger with a specific illustration of what they learn or how interaction occurs. The point about differing musical preferences is relevant, but its explanation is compressed and could be developed more clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall progression: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs develop separate reasons, a concession follows, and the conclusion restates your position. Signposting such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Admittedly” and “In conclusion” makes the structure easy to follow. Examples are generally placed alongside the point they support. At times, however, links between ideas are more formulaic than fully developed. The sentence about festivals moves quickly from attracting an international audience to learning about cultures, without explaining the connection. The concession paragraph also combines several ideas in one long sentence, making the relationship between varied preferences and music’s unifying effect less clear. Use linking phrases selectively and make each step in the reasoning explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “cultural barriers,” “global genres,” “mutual understanding” and “social connections.” These choices help communicate the central ideas, and the meaning is generally clear. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations limit the accuracy and flexibility of the vocabulary. Examples include “diffrent,” “demostrate,” “sence,” “commom,” and “platfrom.” Some phrases also need more natural wording: “get opportunity to learn” and “the ultimate platform” do not express the ideas as smoothly as they could. Aim to check spelling carefully and learn vocabulary in common combinations, such as “gain an opportunity” or “a shared platform for connection,” rather than relying on broad or awkward phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including contrast with “but,” a concession introduced by “Admittedly,” and relative clauses such as “songs on which people from all ages participate.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “music has ability” needs an article, “music can strengthens” has an incorrect verb form, and “people from various countries enjoy same songs” is missing an article. The sentence beginning “For instance, in school choirs…” also has an unclear construction, while the final sentence contains a long clause whose grammatical relationships are difficult to follow. Review articles, subject–verb patterns and verb forms, and divide complex ideas into clearer sentences.
