Student answer (Band 5.5)

Music is an art, and a good way to bring people together from different cultures, religions and well as from different age groups. I am totally satisfied that music bring pople altogether irrespective of their races or the age. Music is always be a part in someone's life at some stage in some sort of manner, which they really like. For some, they enjoy music while cooking, some enjoy it while bathing and some enjoy it while eating and many more ways to enjoy it. It can be the case that the taste of music might differ but music is a vital part in everyone life for their fun and joy. So music, can help us to bring people together by giving them the joy they want.

People with different age groups can come together once we start a relaxing music, because everyone wants to be relaxed irrespective of their age. One of the example I have encountered in my life, when there is a small music group performing on the street, people really enjoying it and dancing on the street, and the good part is people who are enjoying they are from different cultures, even from different countries, and varied age groups, but they all gathered and enjoyed the night. So, definetely music has the power to gather poeple at a place.

Every human has senses, and the music charge these sense, and help us to be felling relaxed and a bit of extrovert, which results in socialism with different set of people. It can be the case that might be pople from different cultures may have different languages, but the music is the only thing that everyone can understand and can enjoy together. For instance, in parties, where people come from different background and varied ages, we can see they always have music there, and everyone enjoys it. In conclusion, I can say music is not a language but its a healing sound that everyone enjoys and always helps to bring pople altogether .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that music can bring people together across cultures and ages. You give relevant reasons, including shared enjoyment and music’s ability to connect people despite language differences, and the street-performance example helps illustrate this. However, the response addresses the topic only partially because several points remain broad or repetitive—for example, saying that music is part of “everyone life” and that people enjoy it in different activities does not explain in much detail how this creates connection. The party example also repeats the general claim rather than developing a distinct reason. To strengthen the response, explain the mechanisms more fully and add a specific, developed example showing people of different ages or cultures interacting through music.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas are generally relevant, and examples are placed near the points they illustrate. However, progression between ideas is limited, and the paragraphs often repeat the same claim that music gathers people. Linking phrases such as “So,” “For instance,” and “In conclusion” are used, but they do not always clarify how one idea develops from the previous one. Some sentences also contain several loosely connected points, making the line of argument harder to follow. Organise each body paragraph around a distinct reason, then explain and exemplify that reason. Clearer referencing and more varied, accurate transitions would make the overall progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “different cultures,” “age groups,” “relaxing music,” and “background.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “bring people together,” “enjoy,” and “different.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “pople,” “definetely,” “poeple,” “charge these sense,” and “socialism,” which can distract the reader or make meaning unclear. Some expressions are unnatural, including “totally satisfied” for expressing an opinion and “healing sound.” Build a more precise range of collocations for discussing shared experiences and social connection, and proofread spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “which,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur frequently in verb forms and agreement: “music bring,” “Music is always be,” and “the music charge these sense” need corrected verb structures. Articles, plurals and possessives are also often inaccurate, as in “One of the example,” “everyone life,” and “different age groups” in contexts where a clearer grammatical construction is needed. Several sentences are run-on or awkwardly joined, particularly the opening paragraph and the sentence beginning “One of the example I have encountered.” These errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then use complex clauses with careful punctuation.
