Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is widely argued that music can bring people together even they belong to different cultures and ages. From my perspective, I completely disagree with this view becasue everyone has different music taste and belong from different culture.
The primary reason for my opinion is that people have different language and their music taste. Some people like to listen english song.On the other end, some are interesting in fast music. It is difficult for them to understand the rythem. For example, if a person belongs to abroad and they like to listen english music. It is difficult for them to survive and adopt other music. Therefore, music can not be a medium to bring people togather due to lack of their language and music taste.
Another significant reason for my opinion is that people belongs to different culture and they have different lifestyle. Some individuals are used to eating vegetarien food, whereas others perfer eating traditional dishes. For instance, a person belongs to another culture and they have different lifestyle, eating habit, dressing sense. It is difficult for them to survive in another culture on the basis of music. Therefore, it may not possible to bring different people togather based on music.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that on the basis of music, It is difficult to bring people of different cultures and ages together because they have different language and it may difficult form them to understand other music. In addition, every culture has different lifestyle, their eating, dressing is completely different drom other cultures.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
Your position is clear: you state that you “completely disagree” and maintain that view in the conclusion. You also give two reasons, concerning differences in language and musical preferences, and differences in lifestyle. However, the response only partially addresses the question because it does not explain convincingly why these differences prevent music from bringing people together. The examples about food, clothing and adapting to another culture are not clearly connected to music, and the discussion of age differences is largely absent. Several claims, such as people finding it difficult to “survive” because of music, are unclear or unsupported. To strengthen the response, develop relevant examples showing how cultural or age differences affect shared musical experiences, and explain the link between each example and your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “The primary reason” and “Another significant reason,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify your main position and the two reasons. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and the repeated use of “Therefore” and similar statements makes the argument feel mechanical. Some connections are unclear: the paragraph about vegetarian food and traditional dishes does not show how these differences relate to music, while “For example” introduces a scenario that is difficult to follow. Use linking phrases more selectively, and make each paragraph progress from a clear reason to a relevant example and an explanation of how it supports your view.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate your general opinion, including phrases such as “different cultures,” “music taste” and “lifestyle.” There are also attempts at more specific wording, such as “medium to bring people together.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts of the argument difficult to understand. Examples include “interesting in fast music,” “survive and adopt other music,” “belongs to abroad,” and misspellings such as “rythem” and “togather.” Some repeated wording, especially “different” and “difficult,” also limits precision. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for discussing musical preferences, cultural exchange and shared experiences, and check spelling and natural word combinations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a contrast with “whereas” and a reason introduced by “because.” However, the range remains limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction and agreement. For example, “even they belong” needs a linking word such as “though,” while “people belongs” should use a plural verb. In “it may not possible,” the verb “be” is missing, and “it may difficult” also needs “be.” Articles and sentence boundaries are inconsistent, as in “listen english song.On the other end.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning hard to follow. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, complete verb phrases and punctuation, then use a wider range of sentence patterns with control.
