Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many people think that music is a nice way to make people more involved in different cultures and eras together. I totally agree with this statement because music is a contacting language and its emotional effect has no limits.
A musical instrument which produce various melodies could say many things without wards, it could express love, passion, sadness and proud feelings. When people feel happy they make a musical ceremony and dance on music sounds. Same thing during grief periods they may find peace in listining to melodies. In every culture around the world there is a certain type of traditional songs and dance which reflects their identity and their way of living.
Ancient generations were aware of the strong effect of music, thats why they delt with it as a precious thing. Some people believe that music could heal soul by listening to a relaxing musi, While others think that a dynamic melody will reflex energetic life especially when combined with vigarous movements. For examples, african tribes usually have a high petch music with strong dynamic dancing in weddings to reveal that the oride has an empty uterus.
In conclusion, some people say that music is like a passport to other cultures and ages, which I completely agree with. Because music is an expression for most of our emotions and it is a very good way to conact with other different cultures.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you completely agree that music can connect people across cultures and generations. You give relevant reasons, including music expressing emotions without words and traditional songs and dances reflecting cultural identity. However, the response is under the required 250 words, which limits the development of your ideas. Some claims also need clearer explanation or more suitable support: the example about wedding music and the bride’s fertility is difficult to understand and is not clearly linked to bringing different age groups together. To strengthen the response, explain how people from different generations share or learn music, and develop one or two examples in more detail.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the main position remains consistent. The paragraphs broadly group related points: emotional expression and cultural traditions are discussed before the conclusion restates your view. However, progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes unclear. For example, the move from music’s emotional effects to the claim about ancient generations is abrupt, and the wedding example does not clearly connect to the preceding point. Linking phrases such as “Same thing” and “For examples” are either informal or inaccurate, while repeated references to music and emotions make the development feel limited. Use clearer topic sentences and explain how each example supports your argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “traditional songs,” “identity,” “melodies,” and “relaxing,” and you communicate the general idea that music can express feelings and cultural values. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to interpret. Examples include “contacting language,” “wards,” “listining,” “musi,” and “high petch music.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “dance on music sounds” and “heal soul.” These issues reduce precision, particularly in the wedding example. Build a bank of accurate topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations carefully; choose familiar words you can use correctly rather than attempting unclear expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use some simple sentences and attempt longer structures, including a relative clause in “A musical instrument which produce various melodies” and a complex sentence beginning “Because music is an expression…”. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence boundaries occur frequently. For example, “instrument … produce” needs subject–verb agreement, while “Ancient generations were aware … thats why” joins two independent clauses without appropriate punctuation. The final sentence beginning “Because” is also a fragment in this context. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas harder to follow. Practise accurate sentence patterns first, then add complex clauses, checking agreement and punctuation in each sentence.
