Student answer (Band 6.0)

Music is often regarded as a universal language that transcends culture linguistic and generational barriers .Whilw some people that music plays a significant role in bringing individuals from divers backgrouns together others mat also argue that its influence is limited.I strongly agree with the former view because music promotes cultural understandings and creates a shared emotional connection anomg people of different ages

One of the most primary reasons why music unites people is that it enables individuals to appreciate cultures other then their own .In today's interconnected wprld people can easily access music from differnt countries through digital platforms. For instance Western pop music has gained immense popularity in Asian countries while traditional pakistani music praticularly songs performed by renowned artists attracts listeners from various parts of the world .Even people could not understand the lyrics they can still appriciate the melody rhythm and emotiomd conveyed through through music .

Futhermore music has the remarkable ability to bridge the generational gap.Although younger and older people may have different preferencess musical activities can provide them with commen ground .For example family gatherings often feature songs that appeal to both children and adultd allowing family members to share enjoyable experiences.Similarly concerts and music fastivals bring together people of different ages who share a commen interest in particular artists or generes.Such lasting memories .Moreover music can evoke emotions amd memories that are universally understood regarless of a person's ageor background.

In conclusion I fiemly believe that music is an effective means of bringing people of different cultures and generations together.By encouraging culture appreciations and establishing emotional connections it promotes unity understanding and asense of belonging. Therefore music should be recognised not merely as a form og entertainment but it also as a powerfull for dtrengthening human relationships.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly agree that music brings people together, and the conclusion restates this view. You address both cultural and generational connections, supporting them with examples such as international access to music, Pakistani songs, family gatherings, and concerts. This gives the response relevant coverage of the task. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the discussion of international music could show more specifically how listening leads to cultural understanding, while the family-gathering example could explain how shared songs connect age groups. The phrase “Such lasting memories” is also left without a complete explanation. Developing these links more fully would make the argument more consistently convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around culture and age, and a conclusion. The progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “One of the… reasons,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help identify the stages of the argument. There is also some effective linking between examples and the main ideas. At times, however, cohesion is mechanical or unclear. The sentence fragment “Such lasting memories” interrupts the generational paragraph, and “Moreover” introduces another point without a clear connection to the preceding example. Some ideas would flow better if you explained the relationship between them rather than relying mainly on transition words. Clearer links and complete sentences would strengthen the progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a useful range of topic vocabulary, including “universal language,” “generational gap,” “shared emotional connection,” and “interconnected world.” These choices help communicate the central ideas and show an effort to use less common expressions. However, spelling and word-choice errors are frequent enough to distract the reader, including “backgrouns,” “praticularly,” “appreciations,” and “powerfull.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “one of the most primary reasons” and “a powerful for strengthening.” These issues sometimes make the intended wording difficult to process, despite the overall argument remaining understandable. Focus on accurate spelling and natural collocations, and check that each chosen word has the correct form and fits its sentence.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and more complex structures, including a contrast clause beginning “Although younger and older people…” and a conditional-style concession in “Even people could not understand the lyrics…”. This shows an attempt to vary sentence forms. However, errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation recur. For example, “some people that music plays” is missing a suitable verb construction, and “Even people could not understand” needs a grammatical connector such as “Even if people cannot understand.” The opening also has a run-on punctuation pattern, with a space before the full stop and no space after it. These errors do not prevent the main message from being understood, but more careful editing and more reliable control of complex clauses would improve accuracy.
