Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people believe that music is the best way of bringing people of different cultures and ages together.

I agree that listening to songs have a great impact on people of different cultures and ages. This will be discussed in the eassy.

On the one hand, music helps to promote culture and tradional which inturn brings people of the language language together, it can be seen that different culture have their own music in their own language which reflect their its history, belief and way of life. by listening to music from different part of the world people can get to learn about their culture and also meet peoplle from their origin. For example, afrobeat has gained international popularity in American, Europe or Asia. People who are not from Nigeria or African background enjoy Nigeria artist and become interested in African culture. This difference can bring about unity and break cultural barriers.

on the second hand, music can bring people of diferent ages together through shared experience. Thus, people of different age may have different music taste but the same music can still be enjoyed at a family gathering. For example, different music are been played during wedding party and this music is been enjoyed my all attendee regardless of their age. Older people enjoys highlife while younder generations enjoys Afro music, either ways both group can still vibes to songs when their choice is been played.

However, it is important to know that not everyone enoy music and not everyone enjoy the same type of music . Difference in musical preference can cause disagreements. desite this, exposure to different genres can encourage people to be open minded and appeciate other people's taste.

In conclusion, i strongly believe music is an effective way of bringing people of different cultures and ages together because it encourage cultural exchange, create shared experience and strenghten relationships.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you agree that music can connect people across cultures and generations, and you return to this view in the conclusion. Both parts of the question are addressed, with relevant examples such as Afrobeat’s international appeal and music at family weddings. The cultural example is explained more fully, showing how interest in music can lead to interest in its culture. The age-related point is relevant, but the wedding example could explain more specifically how shared listening creates connection between generations. Your brief qualification about differing musical preferences adds balance, though it could be linked more directly to your overall argument. To develop the response further, extend this point and make the examples’ significance explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on cultural and age-related connections, a qualification, and a conclusion. This gives the reader an overall coherent route through your argument. However, some linking is mechanical or inaccurate: “On the one hand” is followed by “on the second hand,” and “Thus” does not clearly show the relationship between the sentences that follow. The long sentence beginning “music helps to promote culture” contains several ideas joined by commas, making their relationships harder to follow. There are also unclear references, such as “this difference,” which could refer to the cultural differences or the music itself. Use more precise transitions and divide complex points into clearer sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “cultural barriers,” “shared experience,” “international popularity,” and “musical preference.” These phrases help communicate the main ideas, and terms such as “Afrobeat” and “highlife” make the examples specific. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, including “tradional,” “eassy,” “enoy,” and “strenghten.” Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “people of the language language,” “Nigeria artist,” and “both group can still vibes.” These choices sometimes make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Check spelling carefully and build more natural collocations, especially when describing cultural exchange and how people respond to music.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional-style explanation and sentences with subordinate clauses. However, control is inconsistent, and several errors affect clarity. For example, “listening to songs have” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “different culture have” and “Older people enjoys” show similar agreement issues. The sentence beginning “music helps to promote culture” runs several clauses together without clear punctuation. Other examples include “different music are been played” and “both group can still vibes,” where verb forms and sentence patterns are faulty. Work on agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries first; then practise combining ideas with accurate clauses rather than joining them with commas.
