Student answer (Band 5.0)
I both agree and disagree with this situation. I agree of this situation is because many people in this world love music. Many people enjoy the vibes of music. Many people enjoy the feel that comes when listening to a music. The happy hormones of our body rises when we listen to music. The music is enjoyed by people of every age group. Like small babies from 1-2 years listen to poems and lorries and kids of 5 to 10 years listen to rock music and raps and people from teenage to adulthood really like to listen romantic music or sad music depends on their feelings. people above the age of 50 don't really like pop musics or loud musics. They like slow tones maybe Ghazals and slow good music. So there are very different kind of music and music lovers. The other issue is language of music. If people of different culture understands the language of other culture it surely is a good way to bring people together like the people ho understands urdu also understands hindi and many people know english so they can vibe to these songs. But I think people of different ages is true or not true in different senses like people from13 to 14 years till I think 40 years may listen and vibe to almost same songs. I can agree because this is a huge number of different age groups. But older and much younger kids have different taste in music. They can't vibe with them as much.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both culture and age, and your position is partly balanced: you explain that shared language can help people enjoy music across cultures, while age differences may limit shared tastes. The examples of Urdu and Hindi speakers and of different age groups are relevant. However, the opening, “I both agree and disagree,” is not followed by a clear overall judgement about the extent of your agreement. Several claims are asserted rather than explained—for example, that music raises “happy hormones” or that people over 50 dislike pop music. To strengthen the response, state your position precisely and develop fewer examples with reasons or a specific experience, while avoiding broad claims about what whole age groups prefer.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response contains a recognisable line of thought: it first discusses music across ages, then turns to language and culture, and finally qualifies the claim about age. However, ideas are presented in one long paragraph, so the reader has little help distinguishing the main points. Repeated openings such as “Many people” and “people” make the discussion feel list-like, and links between examples are sometimes abrupt. For instance, the shift from the effects of music to age-group preferences is not clearly signposted. Organise the essay into an introduction, separate body paragraphs for culture and age, and a conclusion. Use a small range of accurate linking phrases and clear references to show how each example supports your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “different cultures,” “age group,” “language,” “romantic music,” and “slow tones,” which makes the subject clear. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise. “Vibe” and “vibes” recur, while “good music” does not specify what makes the music suitable for bringing people together. Some word choices and forms are inaccurate, such as “lorries” for songs for young children, “pop musics,” and “slow tones.” Aim for more precise, formal phrasing and vary how you describe listening and shared enjoyment. For example, explain that people may “share musical preferences” or “connect through familiar songs,” rather than relying on “vibe.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your meaning is generally understandable, and you attempt some longer structures, including “If people of different culture understands the language of other culture…” and the contrast beginning “But I think people of different ages…”. However, the longer sentences often contain several grammatical errors, and sentence forms are mostly simple or joined with “and.” Examples include “the happy hormones … rises” (subject–verb agreement), “people … understands” (agreement), and “people from13 to 14 years till I think 40 years” (unclear construction). Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “a music” and “different kind of music.” Use shorter, controlled sentences first, check agreement and articles, and then practise combining ideas with accurate subordinate clauses. Clear sentence boundaries and punctuation would also make the argument easier to follow.
