Student answer (Band 5.0)
Yes, music is a good way of bringing people of different cultures and ages together. I do agree with this opinion at some part like i have my own personal experience of this. we do garba night event in navratri every year. one of my friend she is muslim she asked me about the concept of music in garba it feels like magical. one day i asked she asked me that can i bring her with me in garba night and i said why not, she went with me and had a good experience of garba. how people are having fun and dance with eachother. in garba event she felt how love and peace connecting together in the form of music, people even don't know eachother but they keep smiling and asking to join them i think this is one of the best example i have to connect this topic. on the other side people who don't like music so this will never be the way for them to connect with different cultures. as i remember we had musical night in our university and my friends refused to go there because of the lack of interest in music. they said what will we do in this event. it is my opinion that music will never be suitable for everyone. there are so many other ways to connect instead of music. it depends on individuals what they like the most. i know someone who said there should be cake workshops or other workshops to bring others together so everyone have their own perspective.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a relevant personal example and state that you agree with the view, while also recognising that music does not appeal to everyone. The Garba-night story helps show how music can bring people from different backgrounds together. However, the position is qualified rather than fully explained: “I do agree with this opinion at some part” is unclear, and the counterpoint about people who dislike music is not balanced with a clear conclusion about the overall extent of your agreement. The university event example is also brief and mainly repeats that some people are uninterested. The response contains 248 words, so it is two words below the required minimum; the 14 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop both sides and state your final view more decisively.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable sequence: you introduce your view, describe the Garba experience, then present a contrasting example from university. This gives the reader a basic route through your ideas. However, the writing is presented as one long paragraph, so the two examples and the shift to the opposing point are not clearly separated. Linking phrases such as “on the other side” and “as I remember” are used, but the connections between sentences are sometimes unclear; for example, “one of my friend she is muslim she asked me” makes it difficult to follow who asked what. Repeated references to “music” and “connect” also make progression feel repetitive. Use separate paragraphs, clearer referencing, and transitions that show contrast and conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main examples, including “Garba night,” “different cultures,” “love and peace,” and “musical night.” These details make the response personal and relevant. The range is nevertheless limited, with frequent reliance on general words such as “good,” “people,” “event,” and “connect.” Some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, including “at some part,” “one of the best example,” and “lack of interest in music.” Spelling and word-form slips such as “eachother” and “muslim” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise language to describe the effect of music and people’s participation, and check spelling and collocations. For instance, “bring people together” is more natural than repeatedly using “connect.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas using clauses, as in “people who don’t like music so this will never be the way for them to connect,” and you use past-tense narration for the Garba example. However, sentence structures are mostly simple or joined with commas, and attempts at longer sentences are often faulty. Examples include “one of my friend she is muslim,” “she asked me that can i bring her,” and “people even don't know eachother but they keep smiling,” which show problems with agreement, clause structure, and punctuation. There are also errors in verb forms and sentence boundaries, such as “everyone have their own perspective.” Use shorter, complete sentences where needed, then practise accurate subordinate clauses and reported questions before attempting more complex structures.
