Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You clearly agree that music can connect people across cultures and ages, and you give relevant reasons: it communicates emotions and can create solidarity. The examples of foreign-language music and music at a birthday party also relate to the question. However, the ideas remain brief and are not explained in enough detail; for instance, the claim about music bringing nations together is not supported with a specific event or explanation. The response addresses the task only partially because it contains 174 words, which is 76 words below the required minimum; 15 words copied from the prompt were excluded from that count. Develop each reason with a concrete example and explanation, and ensure the response meets the minimum length.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable line of thought: it states agreement, gives reasons and examples, and ends by restating the view. Linking expressions such as “moreover,” “for example,” and “on a final note” help signal relationships between ideas. However, the writing is presented as one long paragraph, so the main points are not clearly separated, and the progression is difficult to follow. Several ideas are joined in a run-on sequence, while “also” introduces another claim without a clear transition from the birthday-party example. Use separate paragraphs for the central reasons, and organise each around one point supported by an example. More precise links between claims would make the overall progression clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “universal language,” “human emotion,” “solidarity,” and “shared experiences.” These phrases show an effort to express ideas beyond basic statements. However, the range is limited, and noticeable spelling and word-choice errors sometimes make the message harder to understand, as in “powerfull,” “similer,” “lnguage,” and “overhelming for solidarity.” Some combinations are also unclear, such as “all world people” and “speaks our mind and heart.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. Replacing vague wording with more precise expressions—for example, explaining what kind of solidarity music creates—would make your ideas clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, including the explanation that music communicates emotions and the example about foreign-language songs. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and complex attempts are often faulty. Errors in verb forms and agreement appear in “music not only bringing …, its brings” and “it speak”; sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, with several ideas joined together without full stops. These problems can make the relationships between claims unclear. Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use full stops to separate complete ideas. Then add a few controlled complex structures, such as sentences with “because” or “although,” and check agreement and verb forms.
