Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many people believe that music is a better way to bring people from different kind of cultures and ages together. I mostly agree with statement as I believe that for most people similar taste in music can help them create meaningful connections.

Music industry is ever evolving field around the world. Most people listen to music on a daily basis and when people from different areas of the world meet they often end up discussing music, similar taste in music helps them connect with people on a deeper level. Furthermore, the preferences in music tell a alot about the person's nature, how they feel and how they behave. For example, a person listing to sad, rock or classical music can show their personalities to others music. If a person who likes classical music is more likely to be to communicate and vibe with similar interest in music regardless of their age and background.

In contrast some people believe that music is small factor in bringing people together. They argue that not all people listen to music they might not relate to things which a person who listens to music might feel. Moreover, they believe that it is also important to be like minded in other aspects of like such as: their field of work, hobbies, political views and their favourite personalities. For example, a person who does not care about music, he may not like the idea of connecting with people with just their music preferance. However he might try to look for other traits such as hobbies, favorite shows and many other relating things.

In conclusion, music does bring most of the people together from different backgrounds however, it depends on the other person's perspective on how he may intaract and connect with others. I believe that in today's era majority of the people listen to music and those connect easily with each other but it's also true that many other factors are also taken in consideration when bringing people closer.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you mostly agree that music can connect people, while acknowledging that shared interests beyond music also matter. The response addresses both sides of the question and gives relevant explanations, such as people discussing music when they meet and listeners seeking other common ground. These points support your view, but some are not fully developed. For instance, the claim that musical preferences reveal a person’s nature is followed by an unclear example, so the link to bringing different ages and cultures together is not convincing. To strengthen the response, explain more specifically how music crosses cultural or age differences, perhaps through a shared event or song, and make each example directly support your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting your view, a contrasting paragraph, and a conclusion. The contrast is signalled with “In contrast,” and the conclusion returns to your qualified agreement, so the reader can follow the main line of argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes uneven. In the first body paragraph, the discussion moves from global music habits to personality and then to an unclear example without clearly connecting each point. Some linking phrases, including “Furthermore” and “Moreover,” make the organisation feel somewhat mechanical, while references such as “those” in the conclusion are not fully clear. Use topic sentences and explicit links between claims and examples to make the progression more controlled.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to discuss the topic, including “meaningful connections,” “different backgrounds,” “political views,” and “perspective.” There is also some attempt at more specific language, such as “preferences” and “relate.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which limits precision: “different kind of cultures,” “a alot,” “listing to sad, rock or classical music,” and “music preferance” weaken clarity. Phrases such as “vibe with similar interest” are informal or awkward for this essay, and “other traits” is vague. Aim for accurate collocations such as “people from diverse cultural backgrounds” and “share similar musical tastes.” Proofread spelling and word forms, and choose precise expressions rather than repeating “music” and “people.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “when,” “who,” and “however,” and your meaning is generally understandable. Some sentence patterns are nevertheless faulty or incomplete. For example, “If a person who likes classical music is more likely…” begins with an unnecessary conditional and lacks a clear main structure; “a person who does not care about music, he may not like…” uses a redundant subject; and “it depends on the other person's perspective on how he may intaract” has an awkward clause construction. There are also errors with articles, agreement, and punctuation, as in “Music industry is ever evolving field” and the comma splice in “they often end up discussing music, similar taste…”. Practise complete clause structures and review articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries.
