Student answer (Band 6.0)

Music is one of best form of recreation and entertainment. Many people consider music as a wonderful method to bring people together from different cultures and ages. I strongly agree with this view because people can know about others' cultures and history through music and people listening to same music feel a inner connection with each other.

By listening music, people can be familiar with different cultures and history. Traditional music often present a particular nation's traditions. People may know about others' cultues by listening their traditional music. In Bangladesh, a popular song in Mymensing called ''Jaari gan" reflects the region's history and culture. People from different age groups feel a strong relation through this form. They often listen or sing together this traditional song in their festivals.

Some modern popular songs have a great appeal to many people from different nations, as listener can connect their feelings with others. People who listen to same music often share the same feelings. Consequently they build an inner mind bondings with others. For instance, many people in Bangladesh use to listen various hindi songs and they feel the same emotion towards the songs. People feel a connection with Indians in this form. Moreover, people from different age groups can relieve from their mental stress by listening music. As a result, music can be a bridge to bring older people and younger generations together.

In conclusion, I would say music plays a significant role to connect people from different identities, ages and nationalities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly agree that music connects people, and both body paragraphs give relevant reasons. The examples of Jaari gan and Hindi songs help make the discussion specific, while the conclusion restates your view. This fully addresses the task at a solid level. To develop the response further, explain more precisely how the examples bring different age groups together: the Jaari gan example mentions shared festivals, but the Hindi-song example mainly describes a connection between Bangladeshis and Indians. The point about music relieving stress is also introduced briefly rather than developed as support for your main argument. More explanation of these links would make the ideas more consistently extended.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, moving from your position to two supporting paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs each have a central focus, and linking expressions such as “For instance,” “Consequently,” and “Moreover” help show relationships between ideas. However, some connections are repetitive or not fully clear. For example, “people listening to same music feel a inner connection” is repeated in the second body paragraph as “share the same feelings” and “build an inner mind bondings.” The shift from shared musical feelings to stress relief also feels abrupt. Use clearer referencing and develop each paragraph’s ideas in a more connected sequence, rather than relying mainly on familiar linking phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “traditional music,” “region’s history and culture,” “mental stress,” and “bridge,” which helps communicate your ideas. There are also attempts at more expressive phrasing, such as “inner connection.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, however, including “one of best form,” “a popular song in Mymensing,” and “inner mind bondings.” The spelling “cultues” also reduces accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, but they limit precision and naturalness. Build accuracy by learning common word partnerships and checking word forms and spelling; for example, use “a strong emotional bond” rather than “inner mind bondings.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “as,” and “by listening,” and most ideas remain understandable. Some grammatical errors occur in articles, agreement, verb patterns, and prepositions. For example, “one of best form” needs a plural noun and an article, while “a inner connection” has an incorrect article. “By listening music” needs a preposition, and “Traditional music often present” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence “People who listen to same music” also needs an article. Review these recurring patterns and proofread each sentence for articles, verb agreement, and required prepositions. Greater accuracy across these structures would make the response smoother.
