Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argue that music is a better way of bring.ing people of various cultures and ages together. I completely agree with this view because through this we can understand the customs of nations who we do not know and it also help us to promote our cultures.

The main reason why I agree is that music show the life style, living standards, cuisine and which quality of music they likes.

This assist us to understand any culture how it was in the past and now. In past people singing song in many special occassions like when a baby born, people like to enjoy this like a festivals peple from all ages participated in thes. They singing song dancing moreover during marriages they start singing music a month befor from marriage which is the best way to bring people many cultures and ages close to each others. So it is best way to bring people close to each others.

Another important factor to consider is to elevate our traditions. Through we can can show to other that how we celebrates our special events. Consequently, this aid other people to follow other civilization which they like so this is a significat way to get people together. For instance, in Pakistan many cultures of people live but on special occassion they palys music in urdu, punjabi, pashto and many other languages. So this is the best way to bring people of different culture together.

In my opinion, I truly agree with this because most of the young and also old generation like music which is greatest way to bring these people and cultures together.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that music is the main pathway to appreciate different cultures which connect different traditions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you completely agree that music can connect people across cultures and ages. You give relevant reasons, including learning about customs and sharing traditions, and the Pakistan example—with music in Urdu, Punjabi and Pashto—helps make the cultural point concrete. However, the two main ideas are not developed equally or precisely. The discussion of music at births and weddings is relevant, but the explanation of how these occasions bring different cultures together is unclear; it sometimes describes people of different ages rather than different cultures. The point about promoting traditions is also asserted more than explained. Develop each reason with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation and a specific example of people being brought together through music.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, a statement of opinion and a conclusion. The ideas generally follow a sensible order, moving from music as a way to understand customs to music as a way to share traditions. You also use linking expressions such as “The main reason,” “Another important factor,” and “In conclusion.” At times, however, cohesion is mechanical or unclear. “Through this” does not clearly identify what is meant, and “So it is best way to bring people close to each others” repeats the preceding point rather than advancing it. Some sentences combine several examples without clear links. Use more precise referencing and organise each paragraph around one claim, followed by explanation and a focused example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “customs,” “traditions,” “civilization,” and “different cultures,” and the references to Urdu, Punjabi and Pashto add useful specificity. However, the range and control are limited by repeated general phrases such as “bring people together” and “best way,” as well as inaccurate word choices and collocations. For example, “elevate our traditions” does not clearly express the idea of sharing or promoting them, while “follow other civilization” is imprecise. Spelling errors such as “occassion,” “significat,” and “befor” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling; vary repeated phrases with expressions such as “foster connections” or “share cultural heritage.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “because,” “which,” and “Consequently,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, there are some recurring errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction. Examples include “It is often argue” instead of a passive form, “it also help us” instead of “helps,” and “music show” instead of “music shows.” In “people singing song,” the verb pattern is incomplete, while “which quality of music they likes” does not form a clear grammatical clause. Some long sentences, particularly the one about births, festivals and marriages, need clearer punctuation and simpler clause structure. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and build complex sentences around one clear main clause.
