Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear in the opening—“I completely agree”—and the response stays focused on music connecting people across cultures and ages. You offer relevant points about meeting people at clubs, parties and concerts, learning about other cultures, and sharing life experience. However, the ideas are often asserted rather than explained: for example, the claim that music helps people deal with difficult situations is repeated but not supported with a specific explanation or example. The personal-experience reference is also general and does not describe an actual event. To strengthen the response, develop two main reasons in more depth and show precisely how music brings different age groups or cultures together, using a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the main topic remains consistent. However, progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow because several ideas are joined into long strings, particularly the second paragraph, which moves from understanding perspectives to young people learning from older people without clear separation. Linking words such as “also,” “and,” and “for instance” are repeated, while some connections are unclear. The conclusion largely repeats points from the body rather than bringing them together. Organise each body paragraph around one central reason, use shorter sentences to show the relationship between supporting details, and make references such as “this” clearly identify the idea they refer to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “different cultures,” “communication,” “perspective,” and “life experiences,” so the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, especially “different culture(s)” and “help people.” Some word combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “built our communication skill,” “people mindset,” and “expand their information.” These choices sometimes make the meaning less clear. Aim to learn vocabulary in natural combinations and vary repeated expressions—for example, describe music as “fostering social connections” or people as “gaining insight into other cultures.” Check word forms and spelling as well, including “interacted” where a noun or infinitive is needed.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt longer sentences and use some subordinate clauses, such as “that helps us interacted with strangers,” but complex structures are often faulty and make parts of the response hard to follow. Errors occur in verb forms and agreement: “Its play,” “music improve,” and “this help” need corrected subject–verb forms, while “helps us interacted” needs a suitable verb pattern. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries also need attention; for example, “different ages people” is not a correct noun phrase, and the second paragraph is joined into an unwieldy sentence with semicolons. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine related ideas using one clear subordinate clause. Proofread each sentence for its subject, verb and punctuation.
