Student answer (Band 5.5)

The essay sparked about the importance of music to bring the people close to each other despite from different cultural backgrounds over the different ages. I completely agreed with this concept of bringing people to same place by the help of music.

Now a days, music is becoming a passion for everyone. Everyone is so obssesed of music apert form different languages and culture. Paksitani cokestudio is very popular all over the worldwide due to its sound quality, culture of pakistan and lyrics used in songs. Pepole admire the culture of pakistan through its songs and try to explore most of it. However, music has no limit for age. Over many years, music was always popular and in demand of any age group. Also now a days GenZ generation is becoming eager to know and learn about different kind of music etc, pop music, classical music, folk music and so on.

On the other hand, some people might not find music to be very helpful to know each other. They find sort of language barrier to connect with music from different cultures and level of ages. Moreover, like young and teenage people might not be obsessed with classical music and old age poeple will love to listen classical songs as they find it more connect to their lives and personal experience which is quite boring for Gen Z and millenial generation.

In consclusion, i agreed that music plays a vital role to bring people cloase to each other even from different cultures and ages together due to the popluarity of social media, instagram and other platforms where everyone is eager and excited to learn and enjoy different types of music.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you agree that music can bring people together across cultures and ages. You address both dimensions, using Pakistani Coke Studio as an example of music introducing listeners to another culture, and contrasting younger listeners’ preferences with older people’s interest in classical songs. These are relevant points, but some are less fully developed than others. For instance, the claim that people “try to explore” Pakistani culture could be explained with a specific example of how shared listening leads to conversation or connection. The opposing view about language barriers and different tastes is also introduced but not explored in depth. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation of how it affects people’s ability to connect.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting your view, a contrasting paragraph, and a conclusion. Connectors such as “However,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes uneven: the discussion moves from Coke Studio to age groups and music genres without clearly showing how each point supports the central claim. Some linking is mechanical, and references such as “it” in “explore most of it” are not fully clear. Organise each body paragraph around one main idea, then explain and illustrate it before moving on. This would make the relationships between examples and your position easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “cultural backgrounds,” “language barrier,” “classical music,” and “personal experience,” and you attempt more specific expressions such as “plays a vital role.” This gives you enough range to discuss the subject, but inaccurate word choice, collocation, and spelling sometimes make the writing less natural. For example, “obsessed of music” is not the usual collocation, and “over the worldwide” is awkward. Several misspellings, including “Paksitani,” “Pepole,” and “consclusion,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural phrases and proofread carefully. Replacing informal or unclear wording with expressions such as “listeners are drawn to” or “gain insight into another culture” would strengthen your argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “although” in the discussion of age preferences and a relative clause in “songs as they find it more connect to their lives.” However, some sentence structures and grammatical forms are inaccurate, which occasionally makes the meaning harder to follow. Examples include “I completely agreed,” where the tense does not fit your general opinion, and “bring people to same place,” which is missing an article. In the sentence about older listeners, the clause structure is difficult to control and the comparison is not clearly formed. Practise accurate articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries, and check that each long sentence has a clear subject and main verb.
